Saw it a while ago but still makes me angry that they are almost pleased about the crash. Aston need to put a light on the traction control button because I never know whether it is off or on, is there any way of telling?
You need to make a conscious decision to turn the traction control off - on as standard and I do not think you can turn it off accidentally. Don't you have to hold the button down for 3 or 5 seconds to disengage?Bincenzo said:
It has Mark and DSC can't save you if you are an idiot and enter a corner too fast sadly.... I believe he held down the 'LOT' button also. 'Lack Of Talent' that is, often pressed on entry into a corner Bincenzo said:
I remember posting up some time ago asking whether people generally drove without driver aids. I, incidentally, don't because I'm not confident enough to do so. I reckon he should have thought the same thing. What a chimp.
I understand that only a minority switch them off IanV12VR said:

I'm not sure because we only get wheel spin after having pressed the button, the only way that I have been able to tell is if you floor it from stand still and see whether the wheels spin or not. Either way not having a light is a bit of a pain. There are three modes on the V12V. Off, track and on. You have to hold the button for about three seconds to go from on to track and again for three seconds to go from track to off. From off to on is immediate as soon as you press the button.
There is a message on the dash that states which mode you have selected. From my perspective, anyone who is not trained properly and who sets it to off in a V12 when driving on public roads (especially if in Sport mode) is asking for an accident to happen.

Xav, surely there Is a warning or a light? Cockers, if you did, say, drive a lot without the DSC, how would it present itself on the dash?
I've driven a few times with it off (whilst troubleshooting my over-zealous DSC light issue). You have to hold it down for a bloody long time before it turns off and then the DSC light is on constantly on the dash to remind you.Jockman said:
Then it comes back on in default position when you restart the engine
Yep. I admit I do find it quite fun to drive without it and find the limits of the car yourself. It's one of those buzzes that's great until it's not, as per the video. Here's a question, would your insurance be invalidated or not driving without DSC active???kalibre46 said:

Don't see why it should be. It is an optional setting after all. So long as you exercise due care and attention Jockman said:

Interesting to see what would happen in reality, I'd imagine a number of insurance companies would try to wriggle out of such a claim, especially when there was empirical evidence (like a selfie-youtube job) showing you turning it off.Arming the alarm is technically optional, but I think you'd be dead in the insurance waters if it wasn't switched on when someone nicked it.

In fairness to him he looks like he's still in shock.....but it has nothing to do with holding down buttons or turning off traction control...he just lost itGassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
