An accomplished DM (one who could even slot in at CD if needed) is a must. Arteta can't do that for us. I hear Song is available, even he would be a better prospect than our current options; it's not like AW has indicated that Coqueline is marked for the position.

Urgent: DM

Crucial to add a CD backup.

Cover for Giroud - not so important if we have Podolski, Walcott, Campbell, Sanchez and Coco the Clown fit, and firing on all cylinders. However, the reality is very different.

Wenger said at the pre Besitkas press conf that there was no way Song was coming back......read before that he was apparently very disruptive.

Wenger's said today he'll be active on Monday we'll see....by this time last year the jungle telegraph was already alive with stories of Ozil.

Akpom looks like he's ready for the step up, got another hat trick yesterday for the U21s, third this year! Can't see him being a regular squad member but he looked lively in the Emirates cup. Without flogging a dead horse he excites me more then Sanogo.

If we wanted Remy we could've got him months ago, he was regularly seen at the Emirates last season. I think the Arsenal intrest has been leaked by a certain agent looking for a better deal.

Really don't understand this Remy move now...not at all, unless Campbell is on his way out which I'd be gutted about. The only thing that can make any possible sense is if Campbell is being used as part of a possible Carvalho transfer.

He's signed a 4 year deal for Chelsea today.

Anyway, Wenger says we have an abundance of riches in the striker role.......

What a miss that was. Arsenal lucky not to be 2-1 down.

Sanogo is utterly abject - he brings nothing to the team - for a big lad he's very easy to knock off the ball, and he's woeful in the air. His touch is embarrassing and he has no pace. His tactical awareness and positioning is ste.

I honestly wouldn't pick him for my U18 team - what the hell does AW see in him?

Really disappointing result, particularly as we now head into the international break. Sanogo blatantly needs to go on loan somewhere at Championship level to get game time and confidence in front of goal. We're crying out for a quality CF of the 'number 9' variety. I see we are linked with this Alessio Cerci guy. He is basically a winger who can play CF, i.e. not what we need. I am not sure Campbell will be the answer as he is the type of player who needs a hold-up player along side him.

Defensively we looked a little shaky and need a disciplined big strong guy with presence just sat in front of the back four - not impressed with Flamini today and Arteta has not go the legs. Cazorla and Sanchez did OK, Ramsey didn't really get into the game and Ozil went missing.

Hopefully a busy day tomorrow. Strong DM and an out and out CF needed as a priority with a centre half as cover also.

Hmmmm....

Well, I've been criticised for my views on Wenger. I was told by the apologists that things will be different when he has money to spend. We are without Giroud until the new year, Campbell isn't being given a chance, Sanogo is utterly atrocious yet Wenger seems content to do nothing up front and therefore as far as I'm concerned any title challenge is beyond our reach currently in my view. Despite the investment made are still 3 players short.

We need signings, we are one of Europes richest and biggest clubs. Spend the fking money to make this team genuine contenders. I just don't understand the objective? If he truly believes this squad as it stand is good enough then he is either a genius or deluded.

Today we managed just 6 shots on target from 24 attempts it's pathetic.

Leicester deserve credit for their work rate, energy and in Ulloa I think they have a genuine player with quality who could make the difference.

Some of the most vociferous contributors to this thread were saying something different at the end of last season....I think all you need to say is if he went on loan he'd get a Championship side at best .

Only saw the second half....we were average at best and would have lost to a top six side today.

Let's hope Wenger pulls something out of the hat.

Orenstein said that the reason we were looking at Remy was because another forward nearly left.

One thing that does look promising is Sanchez and Ozil....they look like they are getting a good understanding already.

Yep. I really hope Wenger will be active tomorrow. Like the commentators in the game said today after about 70 mins - "You would think and Arsenal team in this position would have the tools to finish the job off". Damn right we should!!!!

well i have to admit i had a degree of optimism when teh first signings were made, especially with a load of talk - albeit newspaper talk about who were were supposedly looking at in DM/Striker areas...
instead for the past couple of weeks we were linked with a Central defender who seems to have gone elsewhere, now linked with another defender and no sign of the DM/Striker that we're in dire need of.

If we really did make a late enquiry for Remy that is beyond a joke - he's been available all summer. I hope that Wenger has a couple of aces up his sleeve - well 3, but i rather suspect that we'll be lucky if we get anyone of note tomorrow. Reality as i see it is that we do need a class central defender, we do definitely need a mobile defensive midfielder and beyond doubt we need someone up front to score goals. Because we haven't looked like doing too much of that!

and as for Sanagoo - i can understand that these guys in training may have something that we don't see on match day - but he hasn't ever looked like anything other than a bundle of arms and legs. I'd say unbelievable - but actually, its the same as past years....

The ONLY excuse can be that they have a number of deals lined up which need other things to happen or they are just a LOT cheaper to complete now than a month ago.

Not sure I have ever heard wenger say "we'll be very active until the last minute"...we'll see.

The most frustrating thing is a lot of good work has been done the transfer market this summer. We made four quality signings and now it feels that Wenger has reverted to type.

It's insulting to hear him make comments about singing a player every time Arsenal do not win. Arsenal fans know our team, our strengths and our weaknesses. We merely expect that the reinforcements needed to make us stronger are bought in, this doesn't mean we expect to win every game because that's just ridiculous.

We played some very good football at times today and our midfield looked quite balanced, if we had a quality goal scorer we'd have won that game today 3-1 I think.
