Paulista sale confirmed on Villarreals site with Campbell going on loan the other way. Medical on Monday apparently.

Yes, but I'm sure the fans of Manu, city, spurs, southampton and Chelsea would have taken our result biggrin

Some fantastic football at times and the scoreline doesn't reflect our dominance.

If I was Wenger I'd riot act Koscielny, Monreal & Szczesny for allowing a piss poor Brighton side to score two soft goals. Szczesny is a calamity waiting to happen he needs to fking stand up and stop rushing out like an amateur.

Sorry but Akpom is enthusaistic but I see nothing to suggest he'll make it at the highest level. With Campbell, Sanogo and Podolski out on loan Akpom is going to get chances in the final months of the season so it's now or never for him.

Rosicky, Giroud, Ozil & Walcott were excellent.

As for the muppets with the in Arsene we trust banner, they're fking deluded they really are.

Think Brighton were unlucky not to get a penalty then when the ball hit Chambers arm. Unnatural position and all that... his arm was well wide of his body no matter how far the opposition player was and how hard he hit it.

The Manager has confirmed the Paulista deal will be concluded tomorrow. He doesn't expect any work permit issues.

hehe

Break it to me gently, then, why don't you?

Seriously though, a minute later the Brighton player Lewis Dunk slipped and fell on to the ball at the other end. Oliver not only awarded the free kick to Arsenal, he even booked the player. I'd have said Chambers was equally culpable.

There are so many people in the game including the clueless Brighton Manager who don't understand the laws of the game. His arm was not in an unnatural position, he was only 3 yards away from the attacking player, it simply wasn't a deliberate handball.

In the first half there was a similar incident involving a Brighton player, that wasn't given either. The Brighton Manager can't have it both ways.

Pretty much every handball in the box isn't deliberate though, are they? I've seen lots of penalties given for that same offence, either where the arm is outstretched or its from point blank range. I only watched the last twenty minutes so didn't see the earlier offence.

But don't you think Dunk's yellow card was harsh, given that he fell down onto the ball?

The salient point is ( I believe) that his arm didn't move position to intercept the ball...it was ball to hand rather than t'other way round.

Godd FA Cup game....Rosicky has just been briliant for the last couple of years. As Gunnerblog so very eloquently put it...Rosciky is Peter pan and Flamini is one of The Lost Boys.

As said in the BT Sport commentary, it is time for clarification from FIFA on the handball issue... It would not have surprised me to see Brighton get a pen in that incident, you often see them given (... my own team got a similarly 'ropey' one given in favour earlier in the season). If the 'unnatural position' argument is valid, why the current trend amongst some defending players to 'face up' their opponent with arms withdrawn behind the body- why bother to do that? And as Glover Mart has said there was no more intent and 'unnatural positioning' from the BHA player who got penalised and booked for his trouble. confused

I thought he showed enough to suggest he's going to be a player. Confidence in abundance and his both footed, he took up some very good positions and the fact the Brighton players could only foul him
at every oppurtunity shows he was a handful.

I have a feeling Arsne sees something special in him hence the departures of Podolski, Sanogo and Campbell. A year too early for me but if he gets enough opportunities this season to gain experience then I think
Giroud and Welbeck will be looking over their shoulders come August.

You're a fantasist. Then again I already knew that.

There is no way Giroud or Welback are going to be troubled by Akpom in the near future.

What is encouraging is the variety of options we have in forward positions;

Alexis
Ozil
Giroud
Welbeck
Walcott
Oxlade-Chamberlain
Gnabry
Akpom
Rosicky

I don't ever remember us have options like that before. We've had better quality but not the numbers we do now.

rolleyes Bad few weeks? You've been awfully touchy lately. Why are you not working in professional football if you can write off a young chap who's been scoring for fun all the way up to senior level, after only a handful of minutes in the first team? That's some talent you possess.

You wrote off Welback after only a few games for Arsenal. In spite of the fact that he had performed very well, contributed to the team and offered us something a little different from what we had before. You chose to ignore the fact he was then played out of position and his formed dipped. All Welbecks stats suggest he's a goal scorer when played as a centre forward for both club and country. For some extraordinary reason you've decided that some kid who weighs about 6 stone wet through and hasn't scored a goal at senior level is going to be a serious threat to Giroud and Welbeck.

I hope you're right. I hope he goes on to become a legend at the Arsenal and I if that happens I'll bow to your judgement. However, I don't think it'll happen end of.

I wrote him off well before that, he may get a few goals every now and then, but his a mid table team player and shouldn't be anywhere near our first team. That's my opinion others will disagree no doubt. Like you I hope I'm wrong.

Just to clarify this... the referee pointed to several incidents before showing the yellow card, so was for totting up... though he probably should have been booked for the knee high tackle he did 2 minutes before.

Oh they're perfectly entitled to support failure if they wish. I have no wish to suppress their right to do so. In the same way I'm entitled to express my view that this Manager is not going to get us to the level we need to be to compete for titles.
