German Super Cup

It's their equivalent of the community shield, except it's a much bigger event over there.
As Bayern Munich won the league and the German Cup, they play B.Dortmund, and it's at Dortmund's ground.
My eldest son (17) was very impressed with the fans at Dortmund watching their CL matches, especially the Malaga game where they looked dead and buried. Their fans were just brilliant. So we've just been online and bought tickets for the match. Standing in the home end, should be a hoot.
We'll drive over from London, leaving early that Sat morning. It's not actually that far once you get to Calais. Go to the game, stay over in Dortmund and then have a few days maybe in Bruges or elsewhere before heading home on Tuesday eve.
Should be good, and will be nice to spend some quality time with my lad.
Anyone else attended a B. Dortmund home match. Thoughts/tips?

Well it ended 4-2 to Dortmund. I have to say, I've been to some nice stadiums with cracking atmospheres but nothing compared to this.
The Dortmund stadium is just fabulous, it's footprint must be half the size of the Emirates or Stamford Bridge (it looks like Brighton's new ground from the outside)but there were 81K in there and it was about 95% full. The noise was just unreal, I was literally deaf for a few hours after, all I could hear was ringing.
People rant on about the Geordie fans, or Old Trafford, the Nou Camp etc, but Dortmund is on another level entirely. Every football fan should go.

Probably a very apt thread to post a small article a friend of mine wrote about our first experience of German Football
