Thinking of buying an early 911 turbo and after some general guidance.Have seen some cars as cheap as 10-12k are these likely to be money pits ,having had TVR,Lotus's etc I have always had a hankering for a 911 and specifically the Turbo. Is there anything specific to look out for or should I avoid the early cars. This will by the way be my weekend toy so again I dont think mileage should be an issue.

Cheers

Steve

All I'd say is try to drive it first to make sure it's for you, they can be "challenging" to drive - loads of lag then wayyhhheeeyyyy as the turbo kicks in. Apart from that they are a piece of motoring history and if you can learn to control them properly, a mighty capable car.

Can be a bargain and as everybody else has said get it looked over by a specialist..........great sense of occasion driving a turbo.......one thing to remember all the sevice bits and pieces (brake pads etc) seem to cost almost double a normally asperated 911. Go for it.

If you are seriously loking for a good 930 Turbo (and without blatantly advertising!) I may have what you are looking for as I am looking to sell my 1985 car...
why not drop me a mail if you are interested
