Time for a new one.

Whilst you are here, fancy filling out our survey?

Fancy winning an iPad mini? If you have a spare 10 minutes that you would like to spend telling us about your skiing, where you like to ski, where you like to stay, what equipment you use etc fill out this survey to be entered in to the draw. http://svy.mk/14CqWYI

Thanks!

I'm waiting until closer to the time and the start of snow reports before booking anything.

Looking at Vail. First time back skiing in US since my very first ski holiday... in 1983. Would welcome any other suggestions in that area or any thoughts on altitude sickness. Been fine in Val Thorens so guess we'll be OK..

20 of us to Meribel for New Year, falls brilliantly this year for school and work timing. Looks like the blokes are going to road trip with all the luggage, ladies and children on the train.

//j17 thats who I normally use, Dan's just a nutcase. New Years last years was superb, fancy dress on the slopes and in town. smile Although some would say some of my kit is fancy dress anyway.

Re the altitude sickness, I never suffered much when I went to Crested Butte down the road from Vail. Guess I might just be lucky on that front.

Back to La Clusaz again - the kids have had the same instructor for a few years now and the relationship is a big help when getting going on the first couple of days.

ETA: done the survey smile

We're going somewhere. Any suggestions on somewhere with a creche for a 18-20 month old sprog?

The usual 5 weeks in Les Gets for me not all at once, but spread nicely over the season.
One of these years I will get my backside in action and do another full season!

Les Gets has a creche beside the ski school our little one went there before he could ski.
Failing that someone like ski Esprit do childcare included.

We have used Esprit for about 7 family ski holidays over the last five years and they have been great. Also, google "Jack Frost Nannies" who, in many French resorts will hire you a British nanny by the hour to look aft your little one.

I went to Les Arc on the Eurostar with some friends +12 month-old (who was sick on my trousers before we'd hit the channel tunnel, which made for a fun journey). We were staying in 1950 (thankfully it's altitude, not when it was built) and they were happy with the creche in town.

The train did make getting baby+baby luggage to the resort a lot easier than flying though, so worth a look.
