Need a place this weekend. Done most of norfolk coast, Brighton and coast around there. And really drawing a blank on ideas so...

2.5 hours from herts, nice hotel (or place to stay), good food, nice walks, scenery.

Help!!

There are a few good options in the New Forest.

The Pig is very good in Brockenhurst.
Limewood is it's bigger brother in Lyndhurst. Expensive to stay but fantastic and Angela Hartnett has just opened a restaurant there.
An outside bet is Hotel Terravina. Had a very nice lunch there and the sommelier there Gerard Basset won The Best Sommelier In The World Award in 2010.

Hambleton Hall on Rutlamd Water. Fantastic food, attentive service and views / walks to die for

You can walk or bike around Rutlsnd water breaking the journey at one of the many pubs around it
