Gareth Bale for £85m!

I rarely go into the football forum as while I used to play and still watch the occasional game, I wouldn't call myself an avid fan. However rumours are floating around that Real Madrid are all set to break transfer world records and offer £85m for Bale.

Now as a long time Spurs follower I have to agree that he is a very good player but IMO he certainly doesn't deserve to be the most expensive player in the world, I wouldn't even put him up as the best player to grace White Heart Lane so I'm not really sure he is worth £85m. As a Spurs fan though I can't help but be pleased as frankly that money will do our coffers a world of good and for £85m I'd rip their arm off.

It's an insane amount of money and he isn't at the level Ronaldo was when he left for £80m but the transfer market in general has inflated since then, look at the fees paid for Neymar, Cavani and Falcao in this window.

I think he's worth similar to Neymar and he went for upwards of £70m potentially.
