SLS Depreciation
Discussion
So, cheapest currently seems to be £100k.
What do we reckon we will see them for around Xmas next yr? Current depreciation seems to be somewhere just a little slower than a Pirelli F1 tyre on a hot day.
I have the beginnings of a plan in mind that man maths tells me is possible and comes with a high possibility of divorce, but fk it, life would be dull if we werent prepared to entertain unmitigated disaster and mayhem every now and then.
P.S. Yes I know the sensible answer is SL + V12 + AMG = many thousands of pounds less, but...Gullwing doors. Come on, seriously, we all know that any man who tells you pukka Gullwing doors on a Merc arent the coolest thing since Kelly le Brock rocked up in a pair of knickers in the bedroom of a pair of geeks, is probably called Derek or Graham and is an accountant. You know it and I know it.

What a load of rubbish! If they were bought at a good discount (most were) they are holding up very well compared to most cars at this price point. My 5 series Touring has lost almost as much as my SLS and way more if measured in percentage of cost price. Demand for used SLS cars seems very strong at the moment, the well known prestige dealers are buying and selling them every day. Watch their websites and you will see several coming and going. I finally found a car with the spec I was after last week (large carbon pack, B&O, not silver, 10-spokes). Pulled the trigger at just over £100k. Very glad I did - it's absolutely amazing. I wasn't planning on selling my Aston but I just don't think it'll get much use now the SLS is sat next to it.

I bought mine a few months ago c£100k, probably expecting to sell it relatively quickly. (As per normal...). However, like it so much I'm now probably more likely to just keep it, even when I eventually buy something else.
I have just sent it to AMG in Germany for the GT gearbox software upgrade, due back next week. Will report then...

I have been monitoring SLS prices all year and since I bought mine back in July, if anything asking prices seem to have gone up slightly.
I wish they had. I sold mine a few weeks ago for £12,000 less than I was offered in July. No private buyers seemed interested in the car when I advertised it despite it only having 8k on the clock after twenty months. orbtar said:

Crikey, that's quite a seasonal adjustment! There's a real debate over where these are going to land before values firm up and they ultimately start to edge Northwards again. As always, timing is everything, but without a crystal ball who knows? Just because it says 'Vat qualifying' does not mean you add vat to the price. It means you can claim vat back. These cars are in the 90s incl vat either way
Edited to say that £86k car is incl of vat and it isn't cheap. 60 reg with 25k miles. Given you can buy an 11 or 12 plate now with 5k miles for under 100k I think this car looks expensive!
