Hi guys,

I have a Ford Ka P reg and I want to swap engines with a engine from a later 2002 Ford Ka (the Duratec engine) does anyone know if it is a easy swap?

They're the same engine. Just badged as a duratec in later models. Same as the 1.3 "Duratec" in the Mk6 Fiesta.

Still an Endura (Which in itself is a modernised Kent engine iirc).

So yes. Easy swap. Worth it? No.

Pretty sure they're not the same engine, the earlier model is an Endura and the 'Duratec' is actually the rocam engine

Seems that the Endura is OHV, and the 'Duratec' is OHC to me.

A 96 Ka is worth about £300.

An 03 Ka is worth about £500.

Am I missing something here?

I would have to ask why you would want to? The endura is the more reliable engine. If doind a swap at least fit a ka sport \ puma \ rs turbo lump.

Sign up to fk-oc.com, theyll be able to help you with all your questions. They are quite a friendly bunch.

True... But as far as I know, the transition to the rocam engine didn't occur in europe until the end of 02/start of 03, which would mean it would be still the Endura, and the Zetec Ro-Cam is still a kent family engine, and still rough as hell.

It does have 10bhp more though...

Youtube has videos of a 1.8T quattro conversion in a Ford Ka.

My first car was a rocam fiesta. It was incredibly slow. Not too rough though I thought, and didn't let me down. In hindsight I would much rather have had the zetec!

No point. If you are going to the trouble of a swap, put in the 1.7 engine out of the Puma.
