Love my new car so much I want rid of it.
Discussion
Sold my MX5 in May. I have owned it from new, used it regularly for almost 5 years and had never missed a car the way I did with this one particularly on sunny days. Not sure why I sold it, possibly a combination of the weather and being a bit jaded after having it so long. It was a great little car and I couldn't think of anything I fancied to replace it. (Was keeping an eye open for the new Alfa roadster which will share a floorpan with the new MX5 when it hits the market sometime in the next couple of years ,not holding my breath mind you. I also waited patiently for the VW Bluesport/Porsche Roadster that never happened).
To cheer me up I impulse bought an MGTF for just over £2.5K and have found it a relevation. It's just so much more fun than the MX5. I'll be the first to admit it has it's faults but when it comes to performance, handling, character and fun it has the MX5 (hardly a dull car) whipped. Sad thing is having developed a taste for the way a small light mid-engine car drives I want more. More speed through bends, more effortless acceleration, more grip and to be able to move even more about the road for better lines and through-bend vision whilst keeping on my own side of the road. It's intoxicating.
I've given my feelings for the car some thought and decided my ultimate car would be a tiny, light-weight, British, mid engined (preferably a K Series), soft-top. I'm not particularly worried about reliability, owning an MG makes one far more philosophical than the average Japanese/German car lover.
Can anyone (make that everyone) work out what my next car is going to be.

I personally think the kit car is a step sideways from the MGTF not forwards but only my opinion.
I think it comes down to, how much u want to spen and what is you preferred colour to be honest the car has pretty much picked itself.
Or
Or and this in my opinion only is more for your money
If you go for either a s1 or s2 Elise or a vx220 you won't be disappointed, they are exactly what u have said you are after.

Can anyone explain why the K Series in the MGTF develops 135 BHP whilst standard Elise models only have 120?
Just different levels of tune really. There are more powerful versions of the same engine in the Elise so maybe they low-balled it in the 120 to make more powerful versions seem more attractive. Not much more to it than that I guessModernAndy said:
