I need to replace the heat shield on the aluminium square box that protects the drive shaft in the transmission tunnel.

But I’m not sure what to use.

Has anyone done this?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Best wishes

yes i have, from this

to this

Its two layers of alumimium heat shield, it has what i could only explain as air pockets between the layers, simply riveted to the shield, have been underneath recently and still just as good as the day i put it on.

Just found that Power sell it, i can't remember where i purchased it from, comes in a big sheet and cut to size.

Thanks Peter, that's perfect.
My heat shield was fine but I removed the exhaust first and then started the car to back it into the centre of my garage and the foil blew off!

Nimbus heat shield that stuff.

I've bought some Zircoflex for protecting the tub of the trasmission tunnel on mine.

I replaced my prop heat shield with the same material and taped up the edges. tbh the Ali shield will reflect most of the heat and the extra layer is a little pointless. A lot of the heat comes from the manifolds and is blown down the tunnel where's there no physical barrier.

Doh!
I wanted to order some shielding today but walked straight out the door on autopilot and forgot measure the length of the aluminium plate.

Does anyone know it's length or has theirs to hand and could measure it?

Much appreciated!

If no one has it to hand I can measure mine in the morning.

In between, going to the tip, stripping woodchip wallpaper from my hallway and changing a set of discs and pads on an RS4. smile

Won't take 5 minutes though so I'll do it first. wink

Sorry didn't realise how early you posted that request.

Surprised no one else popped up earlier.

I used this in the end.
It's made in the uk and was recommended by an indie.
It's visually the same as the original.
Only time will tell I guess smile

I just ran around the edges with alu tape with bit of spray on adhesive to hold it in place while I riveted it in place.

I'd say the aluminium tape and rivets would be enough though.
I'll post again in a few months to let you know if it's any good smile
