Nice! I'd like to know and see more of that. Roof and tailgate looks vaguely VW based to me.

I wonder if it is? The original TR6 hard-top was the only part of the TR6 not designed by Karmann (well, apart from the doors and all the other Michelotti hangovers). You can see some Karmann Ghia in the TR6 if you look carefully.

Not sure if I like the idea of a TR6 shooting brake though, seems slightly at odds with the character of the TR6. I wonder where he put the fuel tank?

In the words of Richard Rawlings, that thing is badass. Would look great on wires!

Hi,

Saw this car too, got chatting to the gent, there are two fibre glass hard top cut up with sections added, the tailgate is a TR6 boot lid with a glass installed. The tank has been moved under the boot floor with a custom flap in side pannel. I think it was one of the best cars there. Got a triple Weber conversion fitted so goes as good as looks !

Cheers John

Is it me or has he put his front repeater on back to front?

(more nitpicking)

I think it would have been better to have used proper badges and painted the rear panel black, because it defines the shape better etc.

Still each to his own, mine is in metallic paint so I can't talk.

Thanks for posting - that is a very nice conversion.

I'm guessing we're unlikely to see it in the UK much if the owner is German?

Thanks for mentioning the Dove, here is the famous one that's often seen in the Midlands.
And a lovely Triumph Italia that was not registered until 1981. This green car, built in 1962 now with only 5500 kms and a white Italia having been kept at a dealers in Italy from new. The white car went to Germany.

I love the Triumph Dove. That would be my choice. I like the Triumph's with the hard top roofs. I will get one for my TR3 once the restoration gets going.

Hi,

Apparently the white Italia that went to Germany has never been registered, now that would make a great barn find !!

Did you see the silver Italia at S.T.A.R 90 this year -

What a car

Well I think that is superb. Well worth trying to recreate as donor TR6's are quite reasonable price. I would like to know if its a home build. Looking at it, it looks too good. The lines are superb and I think that would make a marvellous practical motor car. Love it.

Hi,

Talking to the owner last weekend, it is indeed home built.

I am sure IF Triumph had built it as a production car it would have sold, a bit like the Stag coupe also seen at S.T.A.R 90 -
