It's quite a big beast, apologies for polluting this thread with technic but here's some comparisons of the Tumbler next to the Unimog and Campervan.Lurking Lawyer said:
Almost certainly a function of the considerable licence fee that Lego will have had to pay to DC to be able to use Batman and the Tumbler design, I'd guess....
The Unimog must have had a license fee as well with Mercedes although alot of stuff including LEGO seems to have got more expensive in the last year or 2.Together with the Heath Ledger Joker putting up the price and desirability.
For something a bit different.

Very true - and doubtless with VAG too for the Campervan - but DC are renowned for how much they charge for use of their comic book character licences in third party products, hence my assumption.Mind you, Lego as a whole is extortionately expensive these days. Walking around Toys R Us last weekend, I mentally pitied the parents who have kids who have the kind of Lego collecting obsession that I did when I was young - it would break the bank these days!

And LEgo in the UK is quite a lot cheaper than most places in Europe.
Judging by some of the photos you've put up of your collection, it's apparent then that you must be a multi-millionaire! I showed my wife the pics of your rather excellent Lego ManCave and she just gave me a withering look that conveyed "Don't. Even. Think. About. It" without even having to use words

Funnily enough I was reading today about the apparent misapprehension that licensed products are more expensive than standard Lego. The article described it as a common misapprehension even among AFOLs but didn't provide any hard facts to disprove it.However, this article: http://www.newelementary.com/2014/01/the-sum-of-it... indicates that architecture sets are particularly bad value, and I doubt there's any licensing cost for them. So perhaps it's just perception; the Tumbler is $199.99 and has 1869 parts so at 10.7c per part it's right in the middle of the examples on that link.
ETA: another article I've found, but haven't finished reading; it does look useful though - http://therealityprose.wordpress.com/2013/01/17/wh...

The Tumbler looks good however having wasted £150 on 10225 R2D2, a kit that I hate with a passion, I can't justify spending another £160.
Should have bought the Camper Van & the Mini.
R2 is currently sat on the table looking at me. Doing naff all. Just sat there. Watching me. Annoying me immensely.
