...Engaging hards was always so much more satisfying than making holes in canvas screens...
The only time we were allowed to engage 'hards' was with these; If we targeted the hulks at Larkhill or Otterburn with these we'd get a bking as they were actually quite difficult to replace if we blew the f*ck out of them (yes, that smudge is the round leaving the barrel - it was only charge 1)

This was discussed at some length on PH (and its where I found out about it), but the photographer had deleted his pictures because he thought that the driver was dead! Fortunately not, and I found these images on an obscure kit car site:
That's Chris Maries. Very much alive and well. I saw him only last week when he was in for an MOT. Crashed when 2 back markers he was lapping moved over on him. Nasty crash and I was watching from cascades. What actually happened was that Chris was passing his brother in a faster 7-type when the Vectra moved across taking the space, running him into the rear wheel of the other 7 driven by Dave Maries. The accident has many magnitudes worse than the photographs suggest (!), with the car flying up and over DM's car and spinning several times in the air before hitting the ground.
