Sill plaques again.

Well after seeing 2 ongoing threads for sill plaques, I decided to make my own, so resisting the narcissistic tendancies of having my name on the plaque, (a bit like Darren and Shaz on a sunstrip), or bull$..tting that the car was built specifically for me, I decided to let the car speak for itself.

It seemed different than everyone elses ideas and after tapping the sill plates M4, I used a couple of polished stainless button head Allen screws to fix it.
I buried the emblem inside the gel coat so it's perfectly smooth. Looks like I need to secure that door seal a bit better too!

I like your sill plaques, they suit the sills and look really nice.
However, being one of those that has personal sill plaques made up I'm not exactly "or bull$..tting that the car was built specifically for me", I am personalising my car for me to me. Its a bit of fun and I like my own personalised sill plaques.

"Owned by, driven by, or enjoyed by" are all ok.
Just your name is a nice personal touch, but something that will get chucked by the next owner.

You only need to insinuate you have a car made for you exclusively by Aston Martin to be a bulls
tter if its not true. It might impress the golf club boys but not here where everyone has an Aston. If you got the car new, then it probably was made for you to order unless bought from the showroom, and thats fine, but still a bit chavvy.
Next you will say that putting your initials on the car in chrome sticky letters from Halfords is also ok?
Also, having the stock sill plates and the underbonnet plaque is a classy touch, you dont need mine for that, I just prefer promoting the car rather than myself.

I tried to explain in my more direct way that it made the owner a COCK for writing their initials or a stupid "cool" message on a Aston Martin door sill but just got berated for currently driving a Volvo - PH has massively gone downhill.
For the record "Tacky" would be the polite word for doing anything like this.
PS I also love the way that (according to the 007 wannabees) driving a Volvo is seen to be more crass than personalised sill plaques HA!
I find it distressing that Topics sometimes become over personalised and somewhat insulting.
What one does to one's car is completely subjective.
It is surely the point of this Forum that Aston owners can discuss,post pics and generally gain knowledge as well as indulge in friendly banter.

Actually you were berated for being a prick towards a guy having a bit of fun with his P&J. The fact that you drive a Volvo is neither here nor there, you turned up and just started being an aggressive prick. And now you've found an ally. Technically correct, but say the first owner only kept the car for 6 months, and then the next owner cherished it for 10 years. I would suggest that the first buyer was not the true passionate owner of that car. One might consider therefore, that the car had really been built for that second owner.
[Note: My own car has the factory sill plaques.]
