Definition of a car being a "Keeper"; Whenever I hear it, read it or indeed as I have recently myself stated, means that as of this minute and for the foreseeable future, I have no intention whatsoever of ever parting company with this car.

We all realise that what is unforeseen but accepted, is that circumstances in the future will more than likely change in a way that will mean that one does indeed 'part company' with the car. However, the original statement when made 'she's a keeper' I interpret as a clear, unequivocal declaration of intent, a level of committment that has intrinsic appeal.

Dunno what you think.scratchchin

Never bought anything as a keeper, In fact never bought anything, normally gifted to me by someone who had not intended to at the time biggrin My feeling is that everything is for sale at the right price, the Mrs included yes

I had a TVR T350c that i was going to keep no-matter-what. For 4.5 years i said that.

I sold it for a V12V.

Well put Bob,

I always use the terminology "its a keeper" to bamboozle the Wife into a false sense of Karma when ever a new sneakily devised plan
has entered my head to buy yet another Motor Car.

She's fallen for it about 52 times now at the last count, bless her, I think she knows really and is just playing along in good hearthehe.

The amusement of course is always where someone buys a car and then says, "I will be keeping this one" or, "This will be my last car". Then after three years, when the warranty runs out, they are tempted by a replacement, and make the same statements again. Perhaps the expenditure was a stretch, and they don't want to face that again.

After how many years can one genuinely say, "Mine is a keeper", and who on here has had the longest keeper?

How about 47 years. Could that qualify as a REAL keeper?

I've never felt that way about a new car to be honest. For me it's about what takes me here and now - I had tried that changing every 3 years lark, but find myself on my 3rd new car in 33 months at the moment. Loved every one of them too. Go figure.

No avinalarf will be along soon. She does and she knows it to be the truth yes Anyway for now she is a keeper as she took voluntary redundancy, so I... sorry she has a bag full of cash that I will get my hands on yes The easiest blag ever biggrin

Lol, if that plan works on them all, it's got some value! Certainly I'll have a copy please, my Vantage was bought on the agreement that I would not be "chopping and changing it in the future" . Mind I had my fingers crossed at the time which everybody knows gives me a get out clause whistle

Aaaaand Mr Wishu wins at the Internet yes

I do not intend for the foreseeable future to part with my DB9. It's a 'keeper'. Nothing else I want that I can realistically afford to buy cash, so 458 and Aventador Spyders are out.

The Morgan I am very fond of but it could be chopped for something else at any time, but probably not any time soon. They are a great pairing of cars yes

Well excellent news. This is indeed good fortune.

Our OP Bob, will introduce you to his friend, who wants to give away an almost new Vanquish, for just a fraction of the new price.

Perhaps best to tell your wife, that it will be a keeper. Ed50 intimates that this line works very well with wives.

When calculating your offer, remember you must be fair and adjust for the above, unless by that time Mr. Cockernee has already spent it on the Vanquish.

So how far are we going with this "keeper" theme?? the goal "keeper" was a start laugh

On a car note, I would like to think that my car is a keeper, for me........unless I find enough money to purchase a nice manual DBS biggrin

Oh yes, and the mental anguish caused by being offered for sale.

[This might be going off-topic. Must be careful. Try to mention keeper somehow.]

My DBS is certainly a keeper because:

It's the exact color I wanted
It is totally bespoke from the factory and NP
It sounds incredible
It has great road presence
and most signficantly...
I'm old and will probably die soon
