A fair few others fell off yesterday too, and same goes for the tour, just that Froome was the only household name...

I doubt he's a st bike handler, after all he has crashed a handful of times in a lot of racing days, I think he just gets a lot of stick as he is a big name.

Haha, yes you raise a fair point. He does look at his stem when he rides though. We need someone to post that clip of him and his stem again!

Yeh. Roger Hammond reckoned that was one reason he may crash so much. Might not be able to help it though.

Could that looking at the stem come from practicing that unnaturally high cadence on a static trainer?

So just so I understand...Contador broke his leg 6 weeks ago, didn't train at all for however many weeks and is now taking the piss up the mountains...hmm.

I think there is some doubt about whether the "broken leg" was a "broken leg" as you or I might understand it. If it was a real broken leg then I share your concern and disbelief.

More likely to be a hairline fracture.

It was. They said so in commentary yesterday or the day before on the ITV highlights.

If it had been anything more than that, then never mind the recovery speed, he would've needed to be off his tits on PCP just to ride those extra few miles he did before abandoning the Tour!

Bit of a give-up from Froome today. Surprised to see him lose the thick end of 30 seconds. Contador looked good but perhaps flattered to deceive as he eventually gained nothing. Good ride from Rodriguez. All still to play for, and shaping up to be a great race.

Froome really doesn't seem to cope with cold and rain.

Guess Froome needs to address that given how many more mountain finishes there are.

Still, he probably will be leader after the TT?

I would think so. Be very interesting to see how much time the Spanish (and Columbian) Armada give up.

What's he got to make up 27 seconds?? Not seen the course - is that a possibility for him? Valverde isn't bad at time trial and Alberto is good too.

Interesting that Quintana and j rod rode back on to ac yesterday. Had they not done that ac would have been in the leaders jersey.

Didn't he make up an awful lot of time on his rivals Valverde (who was the red jersey) and Froome? I'd not say that was gaining nothing...

Sorry, I meant realtive to Quintana and Rodriguez. i.e. he attacked, rode really hard, got a gap, then got caught.

He took 10 seconds from Bertie in a 15 minute TT before the tour. I would think Froome could take anything up to a minute from Quintana and possibly 30 odd seconds from Bertie, he's probably the 3rd or 4th best time trialist there is behind Wiggins,Martin and possibly Cancellara

I can't see there being any significant differences in time between Contador and Froome tomorrow, in fact I have a feeling Bertie will run Froome very close with J-Rod and Quintana suffering a loss, but not huge. TTs are always very interesting after a rest day, depends who's recovered the best from a week's hard racing.

A lot of it seems to be downhill. Which could suit the slightly heavier rider in froome.

If he can stay on his bike...
