Porsche 904/6 Carrera GTS: Time For Tea?
Beautiful works 904 blows out the cobwebs before crossing the auctioneer's block
Certainly the exhaustive catalogue entry detailing the history and provenance of this particular car for RM's forthcoming London sale is well worth a read if you need to educate yourself.
But first you'll probably want to watch the video. And hear it being put through its paces, the six-cylinder 911 engine in this car (hence the /6 designation) a much more serious proposition than the earlier flat-four the 904 started with. And if you ever wondered where the original 987 Cayman got its styling influence then look no further.
Meaning if you feel inspired by this but can't quite stretch to the seven-figure price tag you can swot up with our Cayman buyer's guide before taking the plunge into the classifieds. Perhaps an R would be the most appropriate tribute - if you can bear the colour this Official Porsche Centre offered manual offers a £10K saving over similar ones at other OPCs.

We restored and ran all of the cars for sale in the 'laidlaw auction' over the last 8 years or so and we were drafted in by R&M auctions to dust them all off for a final play to produce the auction video. Happy bidding!

one day I hope to own one myself, no not a real one but a fine/good replica 904/6
with a around 300hp 3.6 in the back for the around 700kg light car makes it fly (well almost ;-))
this one looks also very nice>
Fantastic car, with a great race pedigree.
If I had the cash, I would be on the phone to Martin & Walker immediately........
Edited- it's also only roadgoing Porsche to have a 0 as it's middle number, before Peugeot got all huffy about the 901
