well here i go again after finishing nicks chim and having much fun with it track days at brands bedford runs at the pod etc. we are very confident with the car but now i am going to the next level, i am going to up the power output of the engine which entails upping the blower to about 10psi from the 6psi we are currently running, fit larger injectors to handle the extra fuel that is going to be required i am going for the bosch green giants with a rising rate fuel reg, i am increasing the size of the expansion tank as it is a bit marginal on fluid capacity also going to fit a breather to the other rocker cover to ensure that we dont get to much crankcase pressure as it is bound to rise with the extra boost, obviously some more work to do with the emerald to accommodate all these changes so some fun times ahead. the other major upgrade is the brakes and suspension we are using nitron coil overs with 400lbs on the rear and 450lbs on the front which i grant you is stiff but with the damping turned down should be reasonable on the road but will stop the roll and moreover the squat that around 400hp will generate to be honest 375bhp would be great but the theory at least looks slightly above that, so to the brakes i am working with alex at hispec and am taking the wheels down to dartford tomorrow so he can 3d image them to get the biggest rotors in the wheel looks like we might manage 300mm on the front with a slightly larger rotor on the rear they will be fully floating race spec discs on ally bells with sixpot calipers up front and two pot with handbrake facility rears both ventilated and race grooved with suitable pad material yet to be finalised, got a few pics of the strip down been running round everything just to check on tightness etc. only slight niggle was the diff carrier but have sorted that this afternoon, the other upgrade is to the dash the rev counter and speedo are going in favour of a dash pro 2 which i am sure will not sit well with the purists but i feel it is the way forward far to many issues with the old gauges.

There are rear upgrade kits available should people think they need them

And normally the rears were bigger than the fronts as standard anyways.

John.

I run 400/450 and it's not too stiff for the road.

At speed on the track it often feels too soft!

300mm discs will be fine although you can squeeze a 320mm rotor under a 16" wheel, 330mm under a 17".

Good quality pads are the key. I always use Hawk HP Plus, dozens of TDs and never an issue.

If I were going to upgrade my brakes I would go for WMS because they are good quality and will not break the bank . I`m not sure you need the discs to be so big .

+1 - I have these. Excellent brakes and not too steep as Daz mentioned.

busy day today visited hispec in dartford i am very impressed with there set up and quality, i to have read the negative comments which seem mainly to have been 10 years ago they have always returned my calls which is less than i can say for wms he dosent even have a running web site with his phone number which dosent meen he dosent make a good product, but i wanted bespoke brakes not off the shelf they are manufacturing me 300mm rotors with the rx 6pot caliper fully floated with there latest less noisy fixings which are all machined from stainless with 32mm race spec outers basically all that means is the grooves dont go to edge of the disc so as not to induce cracking time will tell but i am more than happy rears are 25mm also 300mm with two pot plus handbrake callipers. just a few pics the callipers in the pics are the standard six pot not the rx version i am using which is a lot heavier build so no flexing.

Hi John.
Sorry this is a bit off the topic, but can you tell me where you had your dash warning light panels made?

Do pou need a third calliper for the hand brake ?

A mate of mine has Hi spec on the rears ,they supplied larger discs (bells) and supply a bracket so you can use your old calliper ..

dash first i work with a local company who do many consoles and dashes for me mostly marine called brian ward electrical they are basically marine trade but you can go through me should you wish.
handbrake they are building me a set of two pot rears to fit my existing fixing points with a handbrake lever that will work on the main pads will have to fabricate a retainer for the cable outer in the right plane but the actual cable itself will fit there lever.
