Each generation of the Porsche 911, it's the same story: fans await GT3 and GT3 RS versions, the most extreme. This year, it was the visitors of the Paris Motor ParisAbout have the privilege of discovering the new 911 GT3 RS.

Gills peck on the front fenders, air intakes on the rear fenders, double wing, opening on top of the front bumper, exhaust and central dual output (like a GT3), the new GT3 RS is not in the lace and the tone. It is made to make the powder and on the same track so it should also rule the roads. Under the hood, it's still a "flat six" (six-cylinder boxer), of course, which assures. This is a version with the 3.8-liter engine develops 500 hp.

The arrival of this new generation GT3 RS is really awaited by fans of the genre. Because this version has been delayed. Block the GT3 "core" has indeed encountered some problems causing a fire that forced the engineers of the German brand to look back on the engine.

But do not spoil our fun. The GT3 RS is "unique", it is a collector even before it came out.

I'd imagine not every 918 buyer would normally buy a new RS as well, however if there was potentially money to be made then that's a different story.

Question is though, would Porsche not take a dim view of 918 buyers snapping up the new RS, only to sell it on at a profit, would they be obliged to keep it for a length of time even ??
I think Porsche are totally agnostic...the only reason I can see for them saying to 918 buyers that you can get a 991 GT3 RS is because they are using it as bait to shift the last 50 or so 918's. I don't know enough about the logistics of car manufacturing but I imagine they need to get those last 50 or so cars sold relatively promptly as I assume they dont want to be stopping and starting 918 production....much easier/cheaper to make them in one uninterrupted run.

Sounds ridiculous using an allocated slot for a £150k car to sell your "hypercar" but that seems to be what they are doing.

Well...looks like there will be nothing in Paris, so LA auto show next up for an announcement which would be Nov 18.

Have no insider knowledge in this. March launch then . Would the cars be 2015 or 2016?..
Also, I was assuming that production would start as GT3 ramped down, i.e. December?Jan. Can't imagine they would be rolling down an unannounced car on the production line with factory tours etc. Would mean no production till March presumably then. Would mean a short run.

I presume cars will be 2015. I know mine is confirmed for May/June.

As someone on another forum mentioned, November reveal might make good sense, leaving Geneva for the more important 991 Gen 2 launch ??

Not a thing in terms of launch date so far, unfortunately. Maybe others have more specific info.

Hmm.>Rennlist thread has some pics of RS mules in SF. Fairly finished, and unlikely that Porsche would "accidentally' drive a couple of mules there in broad daylight. Wonder if there is any chance that they might use LA after all???.....http://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3/797290-consolidated-991rs-thread-138.html

Bunch of pics and some discussion around page 138

Interesting pictures on the next page (139) too. One of the cars is silver and one of them appears to be 1970s Blutorange (Blood Orange). Lovely colour.

Is that a proper glass rear screen I spy... no plastic for the 991? or is that a USA only thing maybe?
