CRV (54 plate) clutches

Hi All,
A while ago I was getting a creaking sound from my clutch pedal, so when I took it into my Honda garage for a service I mentioned it then.
To cut a long story short, the guy behind the desk told me the mechanic had replaced a rubber grommit, which had pulled free due to the cable pulling against it and had further advised that this would happen again, in time, and that it might be advisable to have the clutch replaced on the next servicing.
Not being really any the wiser, I happened to mention this to a colleague at work, who after looking at my engine said it was a hydraulic clutch so what cable was the garage referring to?
I can't say that I have experienced any form of slipping of the clutch or anything, but as I do a fair amount of mileage around the country, the last thing I want is the clutch to go on me!
Any advice that anyone can give me? I don't really want to shell out on a replacement clutch if it isn't necessary.
The mileage is around 105,000 miles and I do a fair amount of my driving on motorways.

The bloke said the clutch. I know when I looked on a few websites, it was leading me more towards the cylinder assy, but the guy seemed to indicate more towards the clutch itself??
Mind you, when the mechanic also came for a test drive with me when I complained about a squeaking sound coming from the engine (sounded like a bird trapped in there!) he didn't seem concerned, but my friend said it could be the serpentine belt?? - I know another story!!

First off find a different garage! They are hydraulically operated but the actual clutch pedal mechanism can start to squeak after a few years. Get yourself a can of lithium aerosol grease and give the pedal mechanism a good squirt. You need to be a bit of a contortionist but it's well worth the aggro!
