Le Mans CLASSICS 2014
Discussion
Hi all - Just putting the feelers out to see if anyone on here is interested in joining us at the Le Mans Classics next year?
Simple format. Travel down from UK on the Wednesday/Thursday before the Race weekend. Stay at a very nice Campsite about 9-miles from the track. Maybe watch some racing? Go home on the Monday.
This is NOT an organised trip, just some like minded people meeting up at the camp site for a few days. You'll need to sort out your own channel crossings and event tickets. (All VERY easy)
Campsite - http://en.chateau-de-chanteloup.com/
Dates - 4th - 6th July 2014
Event - http://www.lemansrace.com/department/le-mans-class...
I'm happy to communicate with the Campsite owner and book some pitches nearer the time. Just looking for some definitely/maybe's as this stage.
A few of us (Steve_D, Tuxman & Andy GTT) are regulars. So any questions?

Some friends and I are thinking about it as a change from the normal 24hrs that we've done many times. We stay on the airport next to the track (so we can fall asleep listening to the cars still!) and it's fully catered.... We'll probably decide for sure around Jan-time, so if we do go for it, we can try a meet up.
I am thinking of going to the Classic next year and would love to meet up but I don't do camping............ My idea of hell as I live in a very quiet location so almost any noise wakes me and (as those that have met me will know) I need my beauty sleep.
It will either be a nice hotel or a private home in Le Mans for me and travel back on the Tuesday when all the Gendarmes have gone home. Worked for the 24 hours this year!.
Paul
BTW. The restaurants in Le Mans are fab and reasonably priced for an evening meal.

I was planning on taking a support vehicle if I can find a volunteer driver/chef/cleaner/masseuse!!!!
I have a VW Transporter and can get the BBQ and all the tents and gazebos' in. (Well, you have to be comfortable)
I can't see anything in that list that even hints at "comfortable"!I have a VW Transporter and can get the BBQ and all the tents and gazebos' in. (Well, you have to be comfortable)
Comfortable is - double bed, feather pillows, crisp sheets, en-suit bathroom, continental breakfast.
I consider a chalet at Centre Parks "roughing it"!!!
If you do go the camping route, please purchase as much of your food and drink as possible from local small businesses. This part of France is not wealthy and they are very friendly, helpful and are enthusiastic about nice cars. Put something back is my attitude.
Hope to meet up there (if a well rested, fed and clean Ultima owner can join in)!
Paul

So Paul, are you taking this comfy waggon via Portsmouth? Perhaps I should have handed you my tent back in June! I have a VW Transporter and can get the BBQ and all the tents and gazebos' in. (Well, you have to be comfortable)
Is anyone travelling via Calais with spare boot capacity? N

Yes, we'll be traveling via Portsmouth I'm afraid. Andy and Tuxman will be your best bet for going via Calais. Or wait until nearer to July and courier it over. It won't cost much. We'd be happy to take it for you. (Or, I'm sure you will be traveling our way or one of us your way in the next 9-months. We could tie up then?)Is anyone travelling via Calais with spare boot capacity? N
