That's a good technique for avoiding getting caught on corners where sensors have been installed!

Fun Cup at Oulton Park (Fosters Circuit!)-
The warnings applied to the car, not the driver. That makes things a lot harder to manage.
Also, in testing on the Friday some cars were 'sin binned' for twenty minutes. That's twenty minutes of actual running time- seems a bit harsh!

First weekend of racing at Snet - and no surprise. I end up getting a 5 sec penalty during a 40mins race.

I have no idea where I went off 3 times - I saw a black and white on one lap - couldn't see the number and by the next lap it was gone...... I certainly know I went slightly wide coming on to back straight - basically followed the car in front who went wide.

That was race 1 and it was either hit David or take to the grass. But I don't believe i got a warning for it. But I did entertain all the spectators !

Just a bit of info... I raced at Snett on Saturday and during the race I checked at the start/finish line every lap and a black and white flag was on show with the same 2 numbers displayed every lap, (thankfully not our number)

I think the new rules will blend into racing fairly quickly, it just levels the playing field and cuts out the habitual corner cutters
I checked my video - 1 lap only.
and it demonstrates one of the issues - inconsistencies !!

Dont' mind having a laugh about this one - had to have a go and wasn't given a penalty or a warning for it wink

Woof and other current racers, do you think a one way radio communication system from CoC/Race Control would help if all drivers heard about penalties issued (in addition to the existing system of startline flags and boards)?

yes - i think it's the only way forward and would happily spend the money needed to put that in place.

I think one way 'clerk to driver' radio would be very helpful. I for one would like to be warned about any transgressions before I get penalised and my whole weekend/season is impacted - that is a waste of money. I don't see the downside. At the end of the day they could make it optional too so that those who don't thik they need it could choose not to opt for it.

Agreed - don't want it - don't pay for it.

Had to have a go and David's so fast on the straight, but he's a hard racer and very good in defence and took his line, so I took to the grass to avoid hitting him. Looks more dramatic than it was. Mind you on the odd Coram that would have been still on track wink

LOL !!

FYI - having spoken to one of the major clubs, they wouldn't invest in the system or the time needed for it.
The complications of having 400 competitors trying to get their systems to work isn't worth the headache for a club.
Costs are £100 a car with £2000 for the transmitter.

Personally I think Palmer could stump up the money for the transmitters. He's spending £200k on his pressure plate system

certainly one or two of the major clubs are considering expanding its use . It certainly has proved useful in pick ups and legends.

Personally I think he should stop being such a tight arse about some grass. Just as well he doesn't run a rugby club.

I'm not a racer, just a spectator. Can someone clarify exactly what the big changes are this year?

As I understand it, they've introduced more draconian enforcement of existing rules regarding track limits, backed up by CCTV in some places.

Surely if it brings in more consistent enforcement across all races (especially BTCC) then that's a good thing. I certainly got fed up with some drivers at Silverstone last year in the BTCC and support races using masses of runoff to gain an obvious advantage without penalty.

It does sound like there may be some issues regarding drivers not knowing they've received a warning, but that should be solvable with relatively low cost technology. I'd have thought the circuits could provide this at a relatively low cost.
