Currently here, enjoying the sun etc, just wondered if anyone knows of anything suitably 'PH' to occupy some time? Been a couple of times before do know many of the mountain roads are amazing, it's a shame I went cheap with the feeble Corsa hire car...

Watch for the speed cameras; they look like ordinary road side electrical cabinets.
West coast is nice, but the roads are barely wide enough for two in places.

You dont say where you are, but the roads are pretty awesome. Try the Andratx to Soller road, some utterly stunning views, take the road to Sa Colabra, you will need new underwear, also ditto to the Cap Formentor, if youre going to that particular one do it early morning as the road gets busy and can gridlock due to narrowness and lack of turning space.

We're in Portal Nous, its stunning. Unfortunately staying in a hotel rather than one of the superyachts! Haven't stayed this side of Palma before so have enjoyed exploring the south coast over here. Planning a trip to Andtratx tomorrow but haven't done that route to Soller before so will definitely try that one. Is the road to Sa Calobra the one with the 270 degree bend where it loops over itself? If so we did that last year, absolutely mind blowing. 12 miles (or is it km?) of hairpins, agree on the scenery and roads!

Never new that about speed cameras, cheers for the tip. As for the width of the roads, that's my biggest fear - they insist on painting dotted white lines even when it's a single track road, meaning oncoming traffic appears to be under the impression that they don't have to move over! Oh and as for the ditches.... smile

Yep, Portals is my adopted second home due to work, lovely spot but the marina isnt what it used to be, prices have gone mental the last few years. Still some nice places but the atmosphere is a bit TOWIE.

Agree re Portals, said to the missus that it appeared you had to have a bit of an orange tinge to get a mooring spot! Was reading about the terraces earlier . Look forward to it cheers.

No probs, Valdemossa is well worth a visit as well and also the Palma to Soller historic train.

Caves of Drach is very good, if you do like that sort of thing you'll be pissed off when they won't let you take any pics down there.

Which is why the Caves at Arta (Canyamel) are much better... Not crammed with coaches full of tourists plus you can take as many pics as you like.

Cupramax, you'd've saved me a few hours on tripadvisor... Went to the Cuevas de Arta yesterday after reading the reviews, was a good way to spend a rainy morning!

Indeed, I'm a mine of useless info on the island, been going out there for 30 years or so now and work for the last 15.
