Vienna

Wife wants to go to Vienna at Christmas for the markets and all the sites there are to see.

Anyone done this? Recommendations for hotels and is it fly or drive? time and distance not an issue but weather wise is it risky?

Any suggestions welcomed

We went over late November a few years back - markets etc very good but a little too early for snow so not as scenic as it might have been.

great room but restaurant expensive - better value just going to a coffee shop for breakie - there are plenty.

very convenient for the centre, easy walk to the main sights and plenty of trams/metro etc to get further afield, such as Schonbrunn.

Really nice friendly city for a break.

It was ever so slightly out of the way, maybe a 10 minute walk to the centre but the hotel itself was outstanding. The bar/restaurant upstairs was fantastic aswell, if a little 'posh nosh' for us. Its worth going to look at the roof!
