I think he means the rim itself Tim.. SP12's are 8's up front and 9's out back.

So wider wheel same size tyre so same contact patch on the road surface then? Do the wider rear rims make the tyre protrude beyond the bodywork at all?

Yup.. The wider rim will stiffen the sidewalls a little though.

My spiders had 245 rears. Running the 255s on a 9 wide feels right (to me at least). I did say placebo effect as ultimately it's the way it makes you feel hence you search more but ultimately same results may be had if happy to explore.

Overall much happier with the SP12s both looks and more unique to the exhausted spider upgrade on TVRs (still a great looking wheel). Knowing I have stronger metal also adds a smile.

Looking into steering stops coming out as the 8fronts should not rub. Any 1st hand experience and advice welcome.

Just noticed on my initial review of the SP12 was meant to read... I canT tell a marked difference between the SP12s and spiders. (One missing letter has the complete opposite meaning) apologies! They seem same to ride on but little factors make me feel more at ease. wink

Paintwork looks Fab for a 'Naughty'.
Have you done ZERO miles or had her touched up ? (Ooooerrr, Mrs !)

Doh ! I'm such a Dullo. Jut seen that you're carrying 2003 headlight pods so body/paintwork HAS been done - By You ?

....and just to add the ultimate question to all those experts who quote a 'lighter weight' for SPs.

What are the weights, please ?
Ta !

She's had just come back from Central TVR I had a full front end respray (into the engine bay and cowling also with new stickers so she looks brand new). The lights are from factory this car was once owned by the now owner of the only Speed 12 I bought last year from PHer DJR 7... had been immaculately kept. I had also the interior retrimmed in part Alcantara/leateher (red) and Portland grey leather.

Not sure about just how much weight is saved but something is making me smile more... lol!

Hope you get in touch with JA re the Spiders mate, I text him for you today.

Speed six at that year came with original single lamp lights. V8s had the Tuscan style but in pods. But it's tvr so maybe yours was a special.

What year? It's a W (2000) MK2... Can only take what I was told in good faith. But certainly not done by me or immediate previous owner. A posts have been vinyl wrapped gloss black as the body coloured post break the flow up and I wanted the wrap around glass/front floating roof look.

Has anyone had issues with rubbing rear arches on SP12's?
I'm considering getting some as my Spiders are in need of refurbishment due to kerbing and the inevitable wheel wobble but I'm also plagued by the drivers side rear arch rubbing despite raising the ride height and stiffening the suspension, obviously must be Tuscan rear offset from what I've read on this forum.
I wouldn't want to shell out for SP12's and have the same issue.

Sorry to hijack this post. This theme sent me looking for related stuff and I found this YouTube vid which was slightly amusing until I read the various viewers' comments some of which just cracked me up.

Another interesting one on Cerbera offsets is this... Now running the 18" SP12 instead of the 18" Spiders (both using Tuscan 42/33 offsets on my Cerb) I took the car into Central TVR to see if the 8J fonts on the SPs could now run with the lock stops removed, I was then told after the car was put up in the air and investigated... you dont have any on there, and there is no fouling. This just confirms that TVRs really are 1 in a million and there is not necessarily a pattern to any thing. SO im running tuscan offsets and not needing lock stops wink

I say just tinker with your car no matter what till you have it exactly as you like! now Im resting easy and enjoying it until service time (where I may add some slightly larger grooved discs). Oh and some 4" slash cut burnt tips wink

Well, as you're on the subject, does anyone have a photo of lockstops coz I'm pretty sure that mine doesn't have them either.

Ta ! thumbup

P.S. Ummmmm, are those 8J dimensions for the SP12s coz my Spiders are 8.5J front and rear ?

Hi Col,

Correct Spiders are 8.5J all round however SP12s are 8J front and 9Jrear.

I have no pics of lockstops mate.
