Just having a chat with the mrs, told her about when I had a minor op (tonsils out) when I was a ten year old in 1977.
Was in a central (now gone ) London Hospital and remember all the adults watching a footie game.
Now, I know I was in hospital on bonfire night, so it was probably the 5th of November which was a Saturday... Is there a historical list ?

Full fixture list that day was http://www.soccerbase.com/matches/results.sd?date=....

It would have been the highlights program I assume, as no 3pm Saturday games (other than F.A. Cup final) have been shown live since the 60's. If it was Match of the Day (I think they had the highlights till around the end of the 70's) it could have been a game from any of the 4 leagues as I think they only showed highlights from 2 or 3 games.

The first league game televised live was my lot (Blackpool) at home to Bolton in 1960, and I'm sure no more league games were shown live till the 80's.

Frankly I'm disappointed. A 10 year old being deprived of watching Fireworks on TV for a 2nd rate game of football
