Apologies if this is a repeat thread but I just saw another thread where a poster mentioned his old jap car which had over 149,000 on the clock. Seems like a keeper to me! I also saw someone on the Chimaera forum who mentioned something like 143,000 miles.

I'll start this off with.......

TVR Chimaera 450 at 90,200 miles.

Buses and black London taximeter cabriolets do not count!!

Who has done the most miles (on the same engine!) and in what?

RX8 on the same engine, genuine mileage was around 90,000 before I sold it.

Focus ST170 on 110,000, same engine.

Given the right care and attention most modern engines will go forever!

I know you said no Taxi's but I seem to remember a story about a taxi driver doing only airport runs that clocked his old Mondeo round to 1,000,000 miles still going strong, with a car like that I am sure he was likely to be on the same engine as not worth replacing! Quite impressive..

163,XXX On the Corrado (1990) Original engine, has had a bottom and top end rebuild mind...

44,9XX on the Laguna(2008) Which is pretty low, but I've but 11k on it since I got it in March, and it has a DPF!

Can't remember the chap's name, but someone here has an Audi A4 with 400,000+ miles on the clock on the original engine.

We've got a 2006 Astra Sporthatch 1.6 petrol (plus prins lpg @ 50,000) with 146,000 on it (mine). I bought this new in Sept 2006 so all miles are mine.

Wife has a 2000 Focus Millenium 1.8 petrol with 132,000. Bought about 9 months ago with 131,000 miles ( and shows them all)

Motorhome, 2006 Ducato based 2.3JTD with 19,000. Bought this at about 3 years old and it had done 7000 miles.

S60 T5 - 153,000 miles when sold. Running beautifully on original everything except scheduled service stuff, clutch and alternator.

Golf GTI 1.8T mk4 - 158,000 miles when sold. Running beautifully on original everything except alternator and service stuff. Clutch biting point right at the absolute top of the pedal, but it didn't slip.

Interestingly both turbo petrols, yet no turbo issues at all, no perceptible loss of performance, and negligible oil consumption in either case. Both had had servicing to the manufacturers schedule only.

WOW! There are some real high milers out there and I wasn't expecting such a response to be honest (it isn't very pistonhead like as a question is it?!). It would be interesting to see what marque has the highest incidents of (genuine) high mileage with out engine changes. I am sure that there is an automotive engineering student out there that is looking for a final year dissertation idea!

Come on... anything less than 200,000 isn't 'high miles'!

Two 1986 Toyota Cressida. One had a number of broken windscreens, & was retired at 286,000Km, with rust behind the screen, probably due to poor fitting of replacements.

The other developed a bit of vibration in the transition at 377,000Km & retired from the road, but is still used to drive around the paddocks.

Between them apart from service items between them they have had 2 front wheel bearings, one rear axle bearing, & 4 can shaft oil seals. Not bad for well over half a million kilometers
