I want to take my wife to Paris for a 3/4 day trip end of November.

I've found dozens of areas I like the look of, but can't decide! I don't part specific hotel recommendations, I can do that myself, I'm struggling to pick the right Arrondissement for our needs.

Basically, I want somewhere that has restaurants and bars that are not too expensive but not rubbish.
We're very alternative / punk rock people, so I've heard the 9-11th are good for that kind of scene, but do we really want to stay there the whole time?

I also want to do the Eiffel tower and lover's lock bridge, and possibly a museum if we can be bothered!

Any advice greatly appreciated, thanks.

Thanks guys, it was more of an "which area is best to stay in" post but I will take the advice on board, thanks!

Mark.

We stayed in a cheapie little hotel in Pigalle, not everyone's cup of tea but certainly some sights to be seen and gave a different twist to the usual corporate type hotels with views over parks/rivers etc.
See if you can spot the hotel.

I can vouch for this comment, 4 drinks set us back €80+ albeit in some nice bars, even a bowl of French onion soup will cost you €8ish. Still, great city, one of my favourite, enjoy!

I would strongly recommend staying in the Latin Quarter (Arrondisment 5)

Notre Dame is minutes walks from both train stations (Luxenbourg & St Michel Notre Dame), as well as the Metro. If you don't mind a walk (which in my opinion is the only way to really discover a city), all of paris' main attractions can be reached by foot from here.

The Latin Quarter has a great buzz about it, with good quality restaurants in abundance.......and don't believe everything you hear about it being super expensive! Last weekend, myself & my wife had a great 3 course dinner, with wine, for 68 Euro's.

If you want any extra info, please feel free to contact me,

We stayed in Montmartre and had a great time. Very arty, trendy and bohemian. Plenty of cool restaurants (a fondue place where you drink wine in baby bottles!) and bars. Watch our for the sex show/shops at night. Worth a look imo.

We stayed at Hotel Ares Eiffel.

Close to the tower as you'd expect but also has local cafes etc close as well Metro.

Would definitely recommend.
