Apologies if in wrong place..

I've had an e34 5er for a while. The radio has never worked properly but I'm currently stuck in traffic and its now become a serious problem because I'm really, really bored.

Turns on okay, but the noise doesn't amplify at all. On full volume it sounds like its on lowest volume, and I can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong.

Previous owner said it stopped working properly when it had a new exhaust fitted at the garage.

If anyone has any ideas that would be good.

Its likely that there's an external amp which has failed.

Have you checked the EQ, Balance, Fader settings?

Look in the left hand side of the boot behind the carpet and up by the boot hinge - you should see the 4 channel amplifier with 12 speaker output up there. If someone has mucked about with it that's a different story but it could be a simple matter to ebay in a replacement if the fuses are all good. Failing that tune to Classical Radio 3 as whenever I cannot find a radio channel I want, I hit the SEEK button and instead of what I want am blasted by Classical music..... Good luck.

Dave.

As far as I know the UK E34 didn't get the extra amplifier/10 speaker setup.
