Non Personalised Plates

Having seen 7X or X7 on a new Defender in London. I'd like a non personalised short plate, but not having much to invest what is the order of the day in respect of price ranges of plates ?

ABC123

A1

AB1234

A123ABC

ABC123A

AB01ABC

etc..... What's the best bang for buck ?

What about something like A12 ABC, or a NI plate to truly 'take the age off' the car.

The fewer letters/numbers, the more expensive it is. Two is going to be several tens of thousands of pounds or more, I don't keep up with it really.
