Hi,

Has anyone else noticed that the front headlights sit slightly differently to each other? I am talking a millimetre or so difference, but noticeable once you really look. I've noticed it on the edge meeting the bonnet / wing side, and near the black blanking section of the headlight.

Or am i just getting too OCD?

Mr. Reichman has answered this.

"It's a hand built car, made with these."

smile

The 'black blanking section of the headlight', is I think, the power wash.

No, I think you should get some data together from other users and owners, using engineering grade tape measures, assemble the data into some control charts and then come back with the results. If yours is out of the upper or lower control limits you can insist on a warranty repair.

Or you could just say fk it and what's a millimeters between friend smile

Never seen this before on any of my Aston's... Don't mean to panic you, but might want to check it's not been in a small shunt with just a poor repair.

Well, i guess that was my concern, how easily the lights move I guess, though I trust the pedigree of my car, I am interested if this is something that is 'within tolerances' or if it is something that should be considered further.

Just checked mine and yes where the black section meets the bumper the gap is different. Couple of millimeters larger on the near side.

Just been out and looked again and yes the near side lamp certainly seems to be aligned differently. May be its like this to ensure the correct beam pattern... It would make sense for the near side and offside to be slightly different wouldn't it?

The alignment of mine is very slightly different too, better fit than the lights on my previous Z4 though smile

Not if you have halogens instead of HIDs. Then it is actually just a blanking plate.

Thanks for the replies, and to those that actually went out and checked specifically, so it appears I am not alone, the lip of my near side lamp appears to sit ever so slightly higher than the off side, I guess its just me being overly picky.

I believe the headlamp shine pattern is adjusted internally within the unit, so I doubt this is the reason, but who knows.

I was in the factory a couple of weeks ago, what a fantastic place! Anyway one of the processes
I saw was the alignment of the head lights in the body. It's done by hand. So long as your beam patterns are ok and it's not falling out your ok. If I may suggest! stop measuring everything to the mm, get out and drive it! smile
