Have a lovely 2006 Forester 2.5XT, and am considering upgrading it with a stage 2 modification - as it is, it's a great stealth car, but stage 2 should improve that a little too

Based in the UK - Shropshire/Birmingham - and want views on where is good to go to get it done - seen Litchfield advertised, who look good, but cost is £1500. Is that good, bad, or average, and is there a DIY version, or, given i have no spare time, a way of ordering appropriate parts online and going to local garage to have them fit them.

Any experiences with any of those routes, indicative costs at other tuners, or other views are welcomed.

What are you looking to achieve? I wouldn't advise you mapping your car yourself at all. It's a sure fire way to kill your Fos. Get it to a specialist and have it done properly. I'd consider strengthening your engine first or improve the handling with some ARBs.

The link is for a list of recommended garages on subaruforester.org. Theres plenty of other information on there including parts interchangeable with imprezas.

Maybe I wasn't clear - I wasn't going to design the remap curves myself, just order them online and get them flashed..... ditto downpipes, etc.

wouldnt do that... get a mapper to come to you and spend 3 hours mapping your car correctly to match your engine..

H, What does stage 2 consist of? What are you getting for 1500? The route followed by most tuners is - panel filter, decat down pipe, fuel pump (optional) and a remap. After that would come full exhaust systems, bigger turbos, injectors, larger intercoolers etc.

This is the best advice anyone can give you. Off the shelf ecu maps never work as well and you won't know if you have a la y injector or sensor.
Think off the peg suit, or made to measure so it fit perfectly, for the same price.

Its effectively a wrx 2.5 engine with td04. So with decat/sportscat and custom map should see around 275-280bhp and 330-340lb torque., I would recommend doing the fuel pump also.

Change the turbo for more.
