I've just has my wheels refurbished but I'm not happy with the results. The wheels are Raceline RL7s, they're over 10 years old and are a low pressure poor quality casting. I originally wanted them done in the same finish as my BMW motorsport 216 wheels (made by BBS) The only other wheels I've seen in this finish were on a Ferrari 360 CS which I believe also have BBS wheels.
I was told by the bloke refurbishing them that the casting wasn't good enough and only a modern high pressure casting would take that finish. So I agreed to have them finished in his standard silver. I'm not too bothered about the imperfections in the finish but the colour is too dark and has a horrible metallic flake which I didn't want. Basically all I want is a very light shade of silver with no metallic flake and that looks quite glossy and reflective. When I say reflective I don't mean chrome or mirrored, I just don't want them to look flat like they do now, I want some depth to the finish. How hard is it just to fill and sand wheels until you get them smooth enough to take any finish? Is it just my refurb guy who can't do what I want or is it not possible?
Can anybody recommend a decent wheel refurbisher who can do what I want.
Thanks

Try Chris at Exel Wheels as he has a good reputation on various car forums & he will even pick them up having taken them off your car leaving it on axle stands, returning them with the rims even having had a coat or two of polish beforehand (I have no affiliation to him btw). Chris uses Lepsons.
