OK so these are the same price, given a free one and you have to keep it for 12 months which one do you want ?

Have to say for me it's the V12 Vantage S

the turbo is new tech so that would do it for me. AM is a lovely old thing though. In reality i would not probably buy either As I do not see Turbo and AM VS at £160k with a few extras. Think I'd go for a nearly new 458 or Macca for that budget. Turbo and baby AM shouldn't cost much more than £110k new in my view.

If it HAD to be one of them, yep, the Aston - a bit more of an emotional choice I think. As said above though, I'd not be buying one of these for that money. Indeed I'd be getting a GT3 and then a 235i for the missus for that kind of wedge I reckon.

If one of them had to be a keeper I'd go for the Turbo S. But since its for 12 months I would have the Aston just for the experience of a powerful, front engined, rear drive V12.

Not an S but this one was at our local PH meet the other weekend.

Interesting that this is a Porsche forum and AM is winning. Says an awful lot about how desirable Porsche's current range is.

Tbh, they're chalk and cheese, frankly I wouldn't have swopped my previous C2S for the older V12 version, hence I now own a 997 TurboS.

However if you want a bit of an occasion car go for the AM, if performance and agility is your priority go for the Porka..

After only 4 peoples' opinions, your judgment is a premature conclusion.

I want to want the Aston but something tells me it will drive like an lump of lead. Getting all that power down in any month apart from August may be tricky.

Turbo S, too wide and has been hit with the ugly stick, no aerokit option out yet to sort that but can carry the kids and use a roof box.

Sod it, I will go for the Aston, Porsche sort yourselves out!

I almost bought a V12V a while ago and I might have done if I hadn’t driven to the AM Dealership in a 997 C2S. Dynamically the cars were very different, but each is involving and special in differing ways; the engine note of the V12V is something else (and so therefore probably turned up a notch in the S)… Everyone (I have spoken to) speaks highly of the AM interior design and quality (except the SatNav), but to be honest I preferred the C2S interior in a direct back-to-back comparison.

AM V12VS is a lovely looking thing, but ultimately I rationalised the decision I made based upon the fact that I spend my time in it driving not looking at it. Porsche for me.

I paid a deposit on a V12V with the aim of buying based on a test drive. Hated it. Poor driving position, terrible sight lines, offset pedals, terrible gear change (too long), gear stick far too far back. Interior looked nice but ergonomically it was poor. I also thought the noise inside the car was really disappointing, much too quiet. They sound great from the outside though. I also thought the build quality was pretty poor for a £140k car (although nobody paid that).

I didn't buy it.

991 GT3 for me over both of them and save £30k.

i went from Vantage N420 to 991 C4S , the C4S beats the Vantage hands down , so much so its embarrassing for the Aston , i'm sure this comparison would end the same way only faster.

Always wanted to scratch the Aston itch but even with the proper V12 the usual Aston horror stories about dealers reliabilty and build quality scare me ×hitless so nothing would get me out of my beloved 911 GTS.....until my new 991 GT3 arrives that is......

New Turbine S nice GT but too expensive. As already discussed on other threads I would take a lightly used 458 or Macca at £140k +.......

had decades of 911s of all sorts: 964rs, 996gt3 mk2, 996 turbo, 996 turbo 'S', 964 c2, 993 c2s etc...

The only one left is the last one cited (993 c2s).

Bought aston v12v, removed 2ndary catalyst to let more sound out. It is GLORIOUS. It is an epic car. Way more sense of occasion than any pork. Ergonomy is not great with buttons but that's about it. Sound system is mega. Driving position is awesome with the carbon buckets. The car throttle response is instant. Torque is phenomenal and car very playfull.

Instant classic in my books. Each to their own.

The only thing that would tempt me out would be a 458.

Depends on use,if you were going to use it everyday then in this country the turbo makes more sense but if you were going to use it more for enjoyment the aston all the way,the 991 turbo is too fast and too lacking in emotion at that price ,at that price it really just isn't special enough ,boxster interior etc.

but Id take a 991gt3 over either...in fact id take a 991 gt3 over any other road car at the moment.

F458, MC12C, AMV12, 991GT3....

All very nice, but the 991 Turbo's very clever rear seats are it's USP.

Although, I do think the Turbos are expensive and will drop dosh, so I'd settle for a 991 C4S and spend the remainder on an 'old school' manual 911.

As a sunday dry weather car the Aston would be for me.
