Man cabin production has begun, bought from dunster house.

It's 7.5 x 4.5m and it's basic function is to house a dart board, bar, pool table and wii!
It arrived last Monday and started building it when not at work on Saturday.
It's triple therm meaning floor walls and ceiling are insulated.
Arrived in 4 huge piles plus all the insulation and glass etc in the garage.

Insulated chipboard before roof membrane goes on...

Looks very nice.. Extremely important you treat the exterior quickly when finished before the winter weather gets to it.

We used clear Cuprinol...2 Coats.

I must admit, although your shed is impressive, i'm not a fan of your midget graveyard.

What do think of the quality and the whole ordering/delivery process? I'm just about to order something very similar, though not quite as big.....
Looks good anyway!

Good work there. I'll be watching this with interest as having just moved I too am looking at a similar build (albeit slightly smaller).
I was wondering if it would be possible to put the insulation on the outside of the walls and then clad it in that plastic weatherboard stuff that looks like painted timber to make it maintenance free (?)
If that's not possible then it's been recommended to me to use Sovereign SX70 - an oil/spirit based wood preservative/stain.

Hot tub would be awesome it's still on the cards haha!
Haha yep midget graves will be covered with decking.
I'll be painting the whole thing ASAP next week 'mid oak' trade paint they supplied us with, I think it is x70 something or another come to think of it!
Really really pleased with the quality it is brilliant, only a few planks that were warped that could be squished down with the weight higher up.
The instructions are pretty poor. They sell larger cabins as two separates that join together but have separate instructions all different fonts, scales, clarity etc. Then if you want it insulated etc it doesn't really make it clear which order it all goes in. Basically it's do able if you're diy handy but it helps if you have two heads, read all the instructions thoroughly over and over and keep all piles of wood separate.
The guy delivering was really nice but they only drop it off which with me doing most of the lifting took 2 hrs. To get it through to the garden it took me n swmbo 4 back breaking hrs.
If you want it built then they will carry it all through for you and charge £2500. Ouch!
Oh and when you do have a problem, I called and they said email customer services. No phone number as I was told when we ordered but a 4 hour wait for a question.
Those aren't really too big a problem though I'm just saying everything for an honest account.
We went to their Bedford show room and chose a cheaper product from there because it was so good and didn't seem worth spending more for something we realistically wouldn't use everyday.
The guy was really helpful and we paid in a few instalments as we didn't want it till October. Paid the balance a few days before delivery.

Even though it was thoroughly raining managed to get the glass in all 5 windows day around work, tomorrow should be the double doors on and glass in them and hopefully put the shingles on the roof if swmbo will get up there with me haha

That looks like some sizeable cabin there!

Dd you already feed your electrics into the slab it's built on, or are you drilling through the cabin for that once it's built?

Oh, and move the midgets before you deck over their graves, eh. wink

Yep sparky will be coming back during the week to feed electrics through, it would have been better to do it as we went along but once I started building I needed to really crack on to get it waterproof so I'll just have some discreet trunking along the back wall.

Going to have armoured cable running from the garage, supplying:
2 heaters
Directional spot lights with dimmer
Led rope lit shelving for the bar area
3 double plugs for the fridge, tv, wii, stereo etc.
3 up and down lighters for the outside to light the decking once down.

Carpet guy is coming round next week also as he's a work neighbour and can get us a good deal. Might board out the floor for a more secure less creaky floor. Then a rather tough waring carpet will go down, don't want to be worrying about dirty shoes and people throwing up on it, so we've seen a carpet you can clean with watered down bleach. Just the ticket i think!

That's a good size cabin there !

Having recently just finished a similar cabin also from dunster house, I would just offer a comment about the roof. These are a really low pitch roof, looking on the IKO shingles website it does suggest using a fibreglass roll underlay for lower pitch, whereas dunster house in their literature outline a breathable membrane,I don't know what is supplied with your kit ?

Also worth mentioning is are you going to put guttering on ? I ended up using eaves trays all round just to force the water away from the shallow angle edge.

Would also recommend buying a decent quantity of roof sealent cartridges for the shingles, its recommended a couple of splodges ( technical unit .... ) per tile, which is a lot !

Yeah I had noticed the pitch was a little low but seemed a good enough angle for the run off. The cabin came supplied with a black membrane that I stapled down on to which the shingles were nailed through. The only iffy bit I could see was the ridge so have applied a heathy amount of roof polymer stuff under to help. Otherwise it all seems nice and tight.

Right well it's been a busy weekend, managed to get the roof finished between showers!

Couldn't paint the inside yet without first making it look like leopard print! Used 4 bottles of knotting solution from wickes to stop the little buggers seeping through.

Oh and we managed to get the first coat of outside paint done before the heavy rain!

Next job put up the trims inside and fiddle with the door to get the locks to work. Then undercoat!

I think the basic cabin single ply like a huge shed starts at about 5k without options. This comes in at 10k! A lot but it is huge and we can use it all year round.
The bar (yet to be built) was another £300.
I'll itemise everything at the end but I predict about 13-14k!
A lot but worth it for us!

It looks great, but how do you get away with having it right against neighbours fence? Council said mine had to be a minimum 1000mm from any boundary.

Love the tongue and groove inner cladding, I'm insulating mine at the mo and am going for finished slat board I think, but the t and g looks real smart.

Depends on height, if under 2.5m that's not true. Check out government planning portal.
