i've got a 40 cm scratch across the bonnet of my 3-year-old honda jazz. the car has "crystal black" metallic paint, and the scratches appear white, so i guess it has not gone through to the metal.

here are a couple of pictures:

i called "chips away" (uk mobile chip repair company) but they cannot do bonnets or roofs. i'm worried that this is going to cost over £300 at the dealership for a full bonnet respray? i saw some "crystal black" touch-up paint for sale at halfords (uk car accessories shop), but the reviews seem to be bad:

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_802225_langId_-1_categoryId_165580#tab3

any advice on how to proceed? who could fix this without doing a full respray? or is it worth me risking this halfords repair kit?

I'm afraid you're looking at a full bonnet respray - there's no way to do a convincing large touch-in on bonnet.

Jazz bonnets are small, we do them all the time. Cannot see the picture but Honda paintwork is very thin and quite often difficult to remove deeper scratches with success without burning through.

I can't see the pictures either.

My wife's car was scratched by a shopping trolley.

He is how I sorted it.

If you can find someone near you with a machine polisher it would be worth giving it a go.

Can't really see that polishing out..

Just find a good local body shop. You may find your local dealer farms it out to a local body shop anyway.

Honda paintwork is thin and soft. We detail them regularly for a Honda franchise and they are without a doubt , the worst at removing defects as the thickness of clearcoat isn't there .
