Well I have to say...Im a fan! Not usually one for the too poncy high end stuff, it normally irks me I can do 5* for £100/night so why several hundred etc? Treated the wife this weekend though and it delivers spot on. Raises the game but does it without being cloying. V impressed.

I'm a fan too. I haven't stayed since the refurb though.

The American Bar is always worth a visit.

They also do a very competitive Sunday/ early weekday offer. Pound for pound it makes the chain hotels look very costly.

Frankly it was just an outstanding weekend. Happy to check us in early on friday, names down and expecting us. Doormen who remember your names all weekend and call you Mr not Sir. Housekeeping, concierge and restaurant staff who treat you as an adult not a walking wallet. Happy to sort requests often foc. Some retail therapy with wife on fri, superb unrushed meal at the Nat Portrait Gallery with (rainy) view over London. Rock of Ages on Sat night, wiled away the afternoon in the American Bar with free refills on the Black current tea. Outstanding breakfast as usual and also happy to send cereal and oj up to tge room for the wife foc. Free taxi to British Museum this am aswell. OMG I forgot how much I love that place. The Greek rooms are my intellectual/cultural home. Been 20yrs since I last went. Loved being back...actually felt refreshed! I wasnt a fan of the afternoon tea today but its a girl thing really not mine tbh.

Overall it was a bloody expensive weekend of course even with 15% off via lastminute but v v enjoyable. Something
we rarely do but glad we did. If you wish to treat yourself and more importantly your other half...well London done poshly is actually worth it. Dont forget there is the British Library, Natural History, Imp War Museum and Science Museum to visit aswell!

We will be booking to return for the 2 night and Somerset House skating offer on new Yrs Day as broken down it makes a very reasonable deal.

I'd disagree. It's all relative. Ask yourself what you got for your money, then compare how far the equivalent sum would've got you somewhere different,

2nd or 3rd this. We stayed there last year and had a thoroughly great time. It is nice to be treated well and made to feel important now and again.

Currently sussing a weekends stay in London for myself and Mrs AA to meet up with the siblings

Always thought booking the Savoy via LM.com would a one way ticket to the broom cupboard basement room?

Apples...well LM.com have 10 and 15% off quite regularly.

However,

worth checking the Savoy website out. They have some v good package deals on that can work out better value than going via LM or booking.com
