After restoring the 3000s,I am at the stage off the windowframes,
One off them looks bad.
Now I am considering off making a set, they are not to be found and not cheap !
Next step, would there be more interested in a set as making them in bigger amount could make
it cheaper,
Unless someone has a stock allready, would not want to offend other sellers,
So far I have 3 sets needed(people who could do with new set),could do them in steel to be chromed, stainless polished, steel to be painted,

ps:my profession is metal-sheetworker so I have some experience in platework,

thanks,
Rudy

Hi,

I might be interested, mine were black when I got the car, but they would look better chromed or stainless.

I could do with a new pair, as my originals are a little worse for wear.

Dependant, of course, as to price and whether they fit!

Thats an offer i would grab with both hands if you need some they are a pig to make and i know that Rudy has the right set up to do a great job i know i am like a child in a sweet shop when i go there.
when i was building Caravans and Motor Homes in the 70s i had some of the gear he has but sadly not all of it.
My only comment in talking with those who have made them before is the top part is all the same for each car however the skirt part will need to be left slightly oversize so it can be cut back to match each car as there where some variants.
For that reason i would suggest Stainless rather than steel far cheaper in the long run as getting them chromes is a costly process.
If its a help i am planning a trip over for the day in December to Rudys and can bring them back to the UK to save postage and then bring up to the NEC for collection if your going to be there.
I hope if whoever has bought the 3000s restoration project that was on the club site a few weeks ago sees this as that cars side screens where pants i believe.

Thanks for the replys so far,
fitting will be the main thing as not all cars are the same,
small adjustments will be needed?
spigots are the most important, working on a way to make them adjustable?
skirt can touch the body when opening doors, also an issue to account for?
stainless ones can be adjusted by grinding, the chromed ones should adjusted before the chromework?

will keep you posted!

I would be interested in a set Rudy.
Preferably in stainless. I only require the frames as I already have new bases / curtains.

As promised the progress so far,
Will meet up this weekend with two 3000s mates, they will bring there frames and we will compare
them for any differences,
,
,
,
The bended corner is the most difficult part,so far ,so good.
Next is to make the larger pieces and cut the corners, after checking the other frames first!
