BR Vanquish driven..... Interesting day
Discussion
Well then, a topic started on topic that will then hopefully disappear into an off topic, topic, full of banter
I drove Stewart 'Floplast' Vanquish today with the BR mods and also the V12VS on the road, so had a nice treat, I even blagged lunch out of him . I am not going to compare them, I have posted on Jonby's thread also as it is probably more relevant.
Let me start by saying that getting from the Vantage into a Vanquish, it was a shame that the Vantage did not benefit from some of the interior touches in the Vanquish. I know this subject is open to debate, but I like the interior. Start up and that roar is great. Obviously it has a slush box and I am not a fan, but that said, it is a good slush box. So now I am in the driving seat and at least £50K has now been wiped off it's value The look on Stewart's face was a picture as we drove, I reminded him that there were no brakes on his side and I knew immediately that he regretted the decision to let me in his car
So out on the road it sure has presence and feels wider, but that torque from 5000 - 7500 RPM is addictive, it is a little loud for me by a few dB's but I would just need to keep accelerating all day. I have not spoken with Dr Mike and I am not here to 'big up' the mods, just to give my impression. Mid range does not feel any different to me in honesty, but when pressing on the torque just builds and builds, very intoxicating. Cruising along it is a serene place to be, but when prodded it does rev more freely than you expect, in fact it almost seems like a shame that the rev limiter kicks in.
So if it is low down torque you are looking for I am not sure that this will deliver, if you are looking for a kick up the backside from 5000 RPM then this certainly delivers in spades. That said a 6 litre V12 engine with more low speed torque would probably be wasted in wheelspin. Don't get me wrong it accelerates fine in the mid-range, it should.... but this mod is all about more power and more torque up the rev range and it is immense.
Cheers Stewart... I enjoyed thrashing your car around and then getting bought a free lunch

Thanks for sharing! I do like the Vanquish interior, perhaps the lack of updating in the Vantage points towards an imminent (needed) replacement / overhaul?
The only time my car has ever felt lacking in power, was trying to keep up with you
In fairness Chris, you are a tart The only time my car has ever felt lacking in power, was trying to keep up with you

In my test drive of Vanquish I found the box very good as well. Shifts fast, both up and down, when in Sport Mode. I'd be perfectly happy with it and would not overly miss my manual.DB9VolanteDriver said:

Indeed. There was even zero wrong with the one in my 2009 DB9. When I use Karen's X5 (xDrive 57 plate) the difference is huge DB9VolanteDriver said:
