Got a 24hr test drive in an i3 next week.

Clicked the link on PH and were contacted by the nearest dealer to my work.

I have a 60 mile commute each way so will be interesting to see how it performs against the Leaf I test drove last year.

Forgot the ask the salesman if I can charge it on a normal 3 pin plug.
Where is that link? smile

Yes, you can charge it from a 13 amp socket. The charger/cable is probably in the front boot (or 'frunk' - front trunk).

Get them to lend you an ecotricity card so you can charge it on the motorway.
Cheers Trevor.

Thanks for ecotricity card reminder, had forgotten about that.
It was an important part of how I'd use the car so I was very keen to try the process. It was very slick on the ones I tried.

Legacywr - It appeared as an advert I think or in the news section.

I'm sure you would be able to get a test drive anyway if you wanted.

I asked for 24 hours to see if its suitable for my commute (120 miles daily) and to try out one of the public charge points.

Trevor - I'm presuming the ChargeNow stations are not the same as the Ecotricity stations?

No, the Ecotricity stations tend to all be at Service Stations and can charge the car to 80% in 20mins with the other 20% taking another 20mins iirc.
The ChargeNow stations appear to be what you get at car parks and city centres. I think they'll lower power but I'm not overly familiar with them.

I get my car in about 3 weeks smile

Thanks Trevor.

Only used a charge point near to work (when I rang up asking if I could park and charge all day guy from the company who installed it said since its been in operation, nearly 2 years at that point, I was only the 2nd person to enquire about it and the first to actually use it! Free charging and secure parking all day within 5 mins walk of work) and 3 pin at home when test driving the Leaf.

There seem to be a few 18 month old cars with only 1K on them - town runarounds I assume?

Must admit having had a Golf 7 six months back I'm now starting to wonder about looking at one of these in spite of the hit I'd likely take.

Very strange, that's very low miles for even a town runaround. Are they ex-BMW cars?

If they are on Yorkshire plates then almost certainly ex-BMW or ex-dealer demos.

Am I right in saying that the online build price doesn't knock the £5k grant off? Because that would take it pretty much into Leaf territory, and it's a far better car than that.

You need sun glasses.

Or that it is unconventional and therefore intesting to look at.... It's one of the things that won me over when I saw it in the flesh. I have the "Picard Era Enterprise" interior. Think it's called Lodge. Basically light grey with blue bits in. The only daft thing is teh floors are dark carpet and they stuck light grey mats in ??? About Every 5,000 miles I have to whip them out and stick some vanish in them - twice. But the light interior is lovely.

Ah, a picture would help...

Sunglasses needed.

What are the headlights like? Read they are a bit dim in one test - living in the country makes that a downer but otherwise starting to get a bit tempted depending on if my wife finds the seat comfy

I went from a Volvo V40 with Xenons to the i3 with standard lights. They are noticeably different but then you'd expect that. I don't really drive all that much in the dark and when I do it's on well lit roads. Some people do change the bulbs or even change to LED bulbs, but they don't have the correct reflectors and they can dazzle other drivers.
Full beam really is woeful though!

The LED light option only replaces the dipped beam though, iirc

Yes, there will be another one. No details as of yet.

An i8 is the perfect transporter of Krispy Kremes!

Were you there??
