i noticed at the weekend that whilst the fan works fan, the direction only seems to push air to the side and face vents. I had a couple of the trunking hoses off for access when i replaced the Wiper mechanism, but seeing as the 'feet' hose wasnt touched i dont understand why there is now no warm air. Effectively all i have is windscreen only. Any one else had this ? i am pretty sure the hoses went back where they were, in fact i dont think due to there size you can get it wrong (but not 100%) sure, and of course i have also assumed they were on correctly in the first place. But has anyone got a drawing or knowledge of where the trunking hoses should be ?

Is this what you need?

Part 20 is the ducting to the footwell.

Stick your head back under the dash. It's doubtful the trunking has been dislodged, but highly likely you've inadvertently disturbed one of the small vacuum control pipes.

well the diagnosis was correct ! a vacuum pipe was of on the passenger side, so warm air into the cabin once more. need to check further though as it doesn't seem to matter where i turn the direction indicator, feet, face or screen as to what volume of air comes out, so maybe another pipe is off somewhere else, but for the moment i can at least clear the screen.

I had the same problem years back, the direction knob didn't change the airflow which always went to the screen. Turned out to be a little electric stepper motor burned out. It only had 2 positions, but had a drastic efect on the output. Very fiddly to replace and I think the Lotus part is obsolete, though the manufacturer was Diavia if you needed to look elsewhere.

ok cheers for the post. . .i have 'air' going everywhere at the minute, which isnt a problem really. i can regulate the temperature so happy to leave it at that for the minute.
