I'm a salaried partner in a franchise. It is a secondary income to my salary, bringing in about £900 per month. I haven't yet done my first tax return, however. In this situation, what would I need to get a business lease? Proof of a car allowance, or that I get mileage?

Morning all,

I'm thinking about lease deals and could do with some information.

Firstly when it list for example 6+47 what does this indicate? 6 months up front then 47 payments?

In addition i'm now employed full time but still have a limited company from my contracting days, could i take advantage of a business lease?

Thanks,

D.

That's exactly right. Normally the more you put up front as a payment, the lower the lease payments.

Thanks. Although I'm sure this is a thick question but 6+47 is more than 48.

The 6 is the deposit.

You pay that as the first month's lease payment, then pay another 47 payments to take you to the end of a 4 year lease term.

ETA: for clarity, you should multiply the monthly price by (6+47) then divide by 48 to get to the true monthly cost.

I.e. If the lease is stated as £500 per month on a 6+47 contract then the true monthly cost is (£500 x (6+47)) / 48 which is £552

OK. So what if I put £2500 down?

I don't have any experience of being offered a choice to put down a specific deposit, other than being able to choose 3, 6 or 9 months. Maybe some lease companies do let you choose a deposit figure, but I haven't seen that myself.

I'd try www.contracthireandleasing.com and see if you can find the car you want with the deposit you want to pay.

Trouble with that is the deal with the closest deposit cost to what you're looking for probably won't be the cheapest overall.

I can't speak for others, but for me 47 months is an awful long time to commit to one car. It'll be cheaper each month than a 24 month but you may get itchy feet for something new part way through and that's no fun as you will be fully committed until the end of term.

Try calling Gateway2Lease. That's where I got mine ordered from. 6+23 for about £320incVAT

330d XDrive msport plus with business nav. It's not a looker but it will no doubt be a corker of a car. Delivery November expected.

Why don't they offer them up with pro nav its such a big plus in a £40k+ car and if you wanted to buy it at the end of the term first refusal lack of this would put off some punters

Sorry yes. Should have quoted. I've got the F34 ordered. I haven't actually seen one on the road in M Sport + spec so it could be OK looking but tbh I picked it as it was the best family car with decent options for a reasonable price I've seen for ages. Had to pounce on it. I've got an 8 week old son and currently managing on public transport and borrowing my dad's car occasionally.

Not sure. I've got the Becker nav in my SLK and although not as good as COMAND it's more than adequate for my needs. Not worth speccing Prof for me.

Anyone seen any M135i/M235i lease deals out there recently?

Been scouring the interweb and nothing decent.

There were deals of 6 + 23 for a 3dr man @ 260 inc vat a few months ago. Everything is £400 plus currently.

I contacted the fleet person at my BMW dealer (as I understand they do the cheap leases rather than retail's PCP), and they said a 3dr Auto, Pro Nav and Comfort Pack (the spec I want), would be £330 + vat on a 1 + 23 on 15k per year so £396 a month. I don't think that's too bad considering miles and and only 1 advance, rather than 6.

Now the catch is that's though BMW directly, and that you need some business connection which I don't have.

We really need to start company called PH Lease's LTD with hundreds of directors, all with company cars. As the lease is off the balance sheet, no company liabilities either so wouldn't show on the company books. As it's a new starter company, all the directors would require personal indemnities to get the leases so job done.
