Wait .. no you may not have. How much have you rolled over and agreed with your insurer and the lessor?
Youre supposed to be back in the position you were. Get your insurer to agree to payout the lessor on the basis you get another car on your drive to continue the term payments.
Did you have new for old cover , not that it matters much.
Not agreed anything yet but I am with Admiral and they say that they repay the value of the car. Any agreement/ payments I've made to the finance company are irrelevant apparently...

S8 Update 3:

So the dealer calls today to tell me the black on black car I'd payed a deposit on was another customers car (salesman was in holiday) so as an inconvenience theve offered me an s8 demo theyve ordered and due for delivery in sept/Oct. It comes with around 5k of options and comes in curvee silver with brown leather. Value the extas more than the colour so just said I would take it. He said he been contacted by around 20 people from south England for an S8 deal smile

Just a thought anyone seen curvee silver in the flesh?

I didn't see any curvee silver while in dealership and they had a lot of cars there. I went to check out different colours and interiors. I don't think it's very popular colour but it should look ok with brown interior. Is it brown designer or nugat brown?

That's good I called him on Sunday morning before other people had the same idea :-) I passed his details to one more forum member but I don't know what's the end result.

Good.
Have you checked out the value of a replacement car?

As well as autotrader, a good person to ask would be your lessor
How much do they want to put another car on your drive so you can continue with the period.
Remember they'll be dealing in wholesale prices so should be able to give you a good price
That should please the insurer too.

It's even more pleasing to an insurer (and lessor) to come to an arrangement to pay off the lessor without the customer ending up with a car.
That happened to another poster here.

However if you check the internet that doesnt have to happen
Here's what PH's favourite lessor said a few months back smile

Great question!

It's really down to the discretion of the finance company. In theory they could terminate the agreement and then you would have to start again. But we have seen on a number of occasions that if a like for like car can be found then the finance company will allow the contract to continue.

Hope this helps?

Been reading this with interest for a while and recently missed out on the Peugeot 208 GTI deals that were on here. With that said has anyone seen any good deals on a warm hatch? 208 GTI, Fiesta ST, Audi S1, Polo GTI or anything else?
Is this any good ? Not sure how it compares to previous deals though...

Not in the same league as the pug deal, but came through this morning

Hi all, long time lurker in this thread looking out for some hot hatch/small sports car deals, ideally about 300 inc VAT, 8k miles, 24 months. Any suggestions? I have seen the odd Golf R cancelled deal pop up for about 270 but I suspect these are fakes as I haven't yet had a call back.

Indeed. Another lurker using this thread as a base for bargain hunting Golf R's, Cupra 280s or Focus ST's. Not many deals around, but I have the feeling Q3 prices maybe about to drop in some places.

One question to the leasing gurus out there: Excess mileage - is it common to find maximum excess mileage limits in lease contracts. If not, I can't understand why you'd opt for a high allowance rather than just take the (much cheaper) hit at the end of the contract. Any tips here?

Thanks all - and if you spy any Golf R or Cupra 280 deals, send me a PM or drop it in here.

Golf-R at a decent price at Vehicle Savers. Anyone used these guys before? Website is kinda ropey and the 'apply for finance' form is somewhat lacklustre.

Why don't you get a M135i some decent deals about on those. 320bhp rear wheel drive what more could you want.

..something I can drive in the winter? smile

In seriousness it's on the list, but as a WRX owner currently, the Golf-R's AWD or at worst the LSD on the Cupra 280 appealed. I suspect I'd throw myself off at the first roundabout with the BMW.

That said, what's the best deal you've seen so far? When I last looked I could find much.

Thanks.

Learn to drive then and stop relying on AWD 😉

Sky fleet had 6 + 23 at £270 odd a month best I've seen but haven't really looked.

Golf R have been available for at least a month below £300 inc (6+23 8k).. And one of the posts above suggests they're even less now.

I've no interest in being a try-hard thanks. I want a car that'll work well in all weathers and is quick. No matter how well you may drive, the Golf R will be better in the wet the ice and the snow. On top of all that, expecting my wife to take driving as 'seriously' as you do is somewhat unrealistic - not that I mentioned my wife of course. wink

Thanks for the tip on Sky fleet, not sure I've checked on them yet.

Yes. I've signed a lease on a QQ with G2L. When the agreed mileage in the contract is exceeded, a higher rate kicks in.... which applies for 10% of the agreed mileage (ie. another 1k on top of the 10k) after which, the contract seems to imply they can and will create new charges.

That's interesting and slightly worrying - I've not seen that language used on any of the sites I've been to. It also seem slightly backwards - you'd expect finance companies to set more punitive charges the further beyond your agreement to step. But then I guess "can and will set new charges" probably means they have carte Blanche to charge what they like?

Anyone else with testing the limits of using excess mileage?
