I know Michelin bike tyres get a lot of love here, so it might be worth noting the pilot road 4 has just been press released.

They're getting creative with the rears...

Makes sense in my head; less tread on the shoulders = better cornering grip.

Yep, they're only 10 years or so behind Pirelli, metzeler and Bridgestone etc.

Oh no!

I'll need tyres for the Triumph Sprint I've just bought, and there's already too much choice. smile

In my head that means 'panic I might run out of the treaded bit in the wet, ride like even more of a poof'.

Any experience how the PR3 compared to Bridgestone's T30?

I will probably get slammed for saying this, but what an 'ugly' tyre. (yes, yes I know that I shouldn't really care what a tyre looks like...)

Haha. I can see where you're coming from - but think you'd be doing well to reach the shoulder in the wet. I think the heavily threaded area just before the slick shoulder is the intended max lean area for the wet, with the actual shoulder for dry roundabouts. hehe

They'll probably be my next tyre, as I am well impressed with my PR3's, compared to the utterly ste Dunlop D201 (I think) that was on the bike when I got it.

May as well stick with what I know if I like it - when tyres last as long as the PR's do, it's not worth the risk.

But then... it's all marketing, will the PR4 be worth it, compared to the good old PR3 when it comes down to it I wonder. Originally, I only went with the newfangled PR3 over the tried and tested PR2 as some said wet grip was better.

I comparative tested the PR3 against the Dunlop RoadSmart 2 and the Bridgestone BT023. The Dunlop was the best

I agree & know I won't get anywhere near it in the wet. But I know that riding like a poof it'll be an extra worry in the back of my head.

I'm hoping it'll make the PR2 even cheaper. I'm still using them and find them more than up to my needs.
