I'm waging the battle with Mrs JagPJ to get a dog, as part of this we're off to Discover Dogs @ Earls Court today.

Anyone one been before?

Not been to earls court, but have been on the breed stand for smooth fix terriers at disco dogs crufts.

Its a great way to meet the breeds.and hear the cold hard truths from.actual owners rather than breeders.

Well.recommended and a good doggy day out.

It's brilliant. Perfectly behaved doggie 'ambassadors' from every breed.

You may well come back wanting a completely different dog from the one you originally thought of as there are so many different breeds exhibiting.

I let them all lick me!

Yes. It is a good way to meet lots of breeds if you don't know which one you might want.

If however you know the type of dog you want I'd say go and visit several people who own them - not breeders necessarily. A good breeder will be able to give you the names of a few people who will let you visit them to meet the dogs.

It was a great day! Loads to see and do, didn't cover half of it.

However we did the most important, which was check out all the breeds. We want to see if there was one we liked, that's temprement would suit us.

We did!

We were hoping to go for same reasons but had other plans yesterday.

What breeds suited you the best?

A Canaan dog, shortish coat, decent size, good temprement. Perfect!

This sounds like a good way of meeting new dogs. Are you allowed to pet them?

Its the whole point of Disco dogs! You get to play with the hounds and talk to owners.

And every single recognised breed has a breed stand with at least 2/3 dogs.
