Got the following in my email yesterday, it does look very tempting

At last - a TVR in a 24 hour race! Just in case you haven't already heard, thought that I should pass on the great news that Martin and the Rollcentre team will be racing the Cerbera in the 24 hour race at Spa. We'd like to try and get as many supporters out there as possible to 'fly the flag' (or rather both; brit and TVR) so please feel free to forward this to others.

This will be an expensive event and inevitably, the team is looking for sponsorship. Fancy getting involved? It's great fun and Martin has in mind to do something similar to that which Jam Lammers did in Le Mans with sponsor name patches on the car.

Anyone interested in sponsorship should contact Martin directly on rollcentre@aol.com.
Martin's note and timetable follow

Take care

Claire

Hi Folks

I can finally announce that we will be taking the TVR Cerbera to the Spa 24
hour race for her new owners Veryplast of Belgium. We will race against FIA
cars, but in the 'National GT' class.

This will be our first 24 hour race, and the logistics of it are already
looking mammoth. The car is being prepared at the moment by Mike, Luke and
Richard, and TVR are finishing off the assembly and dyno runs of the Speed
Six engine.

The drivers will be myself, Simon Pullan and Rob Barff.

Dominiek Veraacke of Veryplast and myself had careful considerations of who
should drive, and Simon as my team mate in the British series has shown
considerable maturity and speed for his tender years. Rob is the only person
other than myself who has raced the Cerbie, and was with me when we won our
first British GT race in the car.....at Spa.....so he is a natural choice. He
is now racing the Cerbera Speed 12, and like Simon is fast, but with safe
hands.

Veryplast will not be known by many in the UK, but Dominiek is an ardent TVR
fan (sponsoring us last year for Suzuka), and when he and Mark Minnie, the
TVR Belgium distributor came over to look at the Cerbera, they said yes to
buying it instantly. Not long after that they decided that they wanted to
race the car at Spa, and wanted Rollcentre to run it, and me to race it!

Going in to the 24 hours is obviously a major event for us, but after podiums
at Suzuka and Daytona, and my cars dnf at Le Mans this year, we have all seen
what to do and what not to do.....especially Le Mans!

The race takes place on August 3rd and 4th.

Regards

Martin Short

Whow, that's even better than I expected. I thought they would have a go at the 24 hours of Zolder. But now the Spa 24Hrs sounds absolutely brilliant. I'll catch you on Friday in three weeks, spledido maveloso.

Just to bring that topic forward again... will there be anyone else from GB for this one other than the very welcomed Cerbera crew ? Mind you, it's the second biggest race in Europe after LM. BTW, I get the week of and will meet you on Wednesday at the press conference in the casino at Spa.

I'm very tempted.

But is it not too late to sort out tickets/camping etc etc?

How much do things like that cost. I'm interested, and probably know a couple of others that would be too, but need prices...

My friend and I would also like to go to cheer on Shorty. We also don't know about tickets etc. Never been to SPA but have been to LeMans 6 times.

All the info you need can be found at www.spa24hours.com and www.spa-francorchamps.be. Last year there were some 250.000 visitors. So, come in big numbers.

...and bizarrely, there are still (currently) cheapo hotels around with room from ~ €20 per night.
