Hi All,

I am a detailing novice, but I polished my car with the Meguiars glaze yesterday, and the car had the deepest shine I have ever seen! It looked like it rolled out of the showroom (the car is a performance blue 2005 Mondeo ST TDCI).

My question is, which wax is the best to seal the glaze in? Are there waxes out there which add further depth and shine?

Depends on how much you want to spend. I'd pick something from Bilt Hamber like the finis wax which is extremely durable. The finsih comes from the glaze stage you've done, the protection comes from the wax. I also like Collinite 915 and Finish Kare Hi-Temp Sealant 1000p.

Thanks mate.

My reading tells me that Finish Kare Hi-Temp 10000p will protect for about 3-6mths? Is that your experience too?

Could a mod please put this in the detailing forum as it more relevant there. It was an oversight on my part to post in GG.

Thanks

Depends on the time of year but for winter 1000p is a better idea than a wax. It should last 3/4 months. It takes 10mn to apply anyway so you could top it up every 2 months or so. The tub is huge anyway so even at that rate it will last years. It's great for wheels too, will make cleaning them very easy and without the need for a dedicated wheel cleaner.

Thanks NickFrog.

I will be buying the Finish Kare 1000pm tonight.
I plan to wash car, re-apply the Meguiars #7 and then put on the FK 1000.
Can I apply the FK 1000 straight after the meguiars or should I wait?

1000P is a sealant? May well cause problems with an oily glaze. Stick with a wax.

1000p is a synthetic sealant despite its name.

Works OK on top of a glaze, obviously not as well as on bare paint but no worse than a wax ime, particularly in winter.
