After four and a quarter happy years with a Scirocco I decided the time was right for a change. The GT86 caught my eye and I was offered a very good p/x and then a very good deal so I went for it.

Couple of not great pics from when I picked it up below:-

I was never very keen on the stock wheels and finally I settled on what I would have instead. I went for these:-

They are stock size (17x7") but 8mm lower offset and a useful 2kg a wheel lighter. I kept the stock tyres as wanted to keep the cars character close to stock (for now).

Picture just after they were fitted below:-

I realise they wont be to most people's taste as due to the design with the spokes not running to the edge of the wheel they look smaller than 17's.

Next up was sorting the exhaust and a drop in air filter. I went with a Cobra cat-back non-resonated system as part of a group buy. It may be a little loud for my taste though so a resonated centre section may be fitted at some point. For the air filter I went with a HKS panel filter.

Pics below (excuse the state of the car though!):-

Next I had it lowered a touch. I went to AST suspension and had a set of their lowering springs fitted. I went with a 25mm drop as it is my daily driver and I live in speed bump central so decided against the 35mm. The 35mm also have a greater need for various alignment products to be fitted too. Decided to go with the springs from AST as they are the closest to stock rate and I didn't want to make the ride much firmer than it already was. They are also pretty much the only offering which have different spring rates for the '86 and BRZ.

Picture below just after fitting so I would expect them to settle a little more over the coming weeks:-

Again, please excuse the state of the car!

Nice! Like smile

What sort of deal did you get if you don't mind me asking? ;-)

Looked at these recently but they're a little out my price bracket, enjoy!

At the weekend i fitted the stock wheels with winter tyres on back on the car. Tyres are Nokian WRA3's which I've used before and found to be excellent.

Next up is a ecutek remap and probably the resonated centre section for the exhaust.

Thank you!

I got a very good p/x price (about £2k more than I'd been offered elsewhere) and approximately a 10% discount.

It's the first time they've been back on since it was lowered and I'm much fonder of them now than I was at first. It was the weight saving I really wanted with the others though and I wanted two sets to have summers and winters to swap between.

I'd second that. Looks much better lowered in the final picture with stock wheels.

Great looking car. I like the exhaust an diffuser look.

Yeah sometimes I quite like it and other times it's a bit much. Think I probably will have the resonated section fitted just hope it doesn't take away the aspects of the sound I do enjoy!

Cheers! As I said, post-lowering stock wheels have definitely grown on me.

I've also just realised where your user name is from? Unless that is your real name, in which case please don't kill me

The more I see of these cars, the more I resolve to get one.

Great car OP.

Have you done (or are you intending to do) anything to the interior?

Thanks!

The only thing I've done on the interior is swap the woeful quality stock mats for a set of custom mats in red to match the red accents on the wheel, gear knob, seats, etc

Not a great picture but hopefully shows what I mean:-
